<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>1- bc Marner is younger &amp; better

2- NSH would be STUPID if they didn’t do this (assuming they don’t mind paying Marner)
Getting a player of Marner's caliber, when the main piece coming back is an aging &amp; declining goalie, would be an absolute steal

And no, I’m not a Leafs’ fan or from Canada
I actually hate the Leafs
Just don’t have any super biased homer views like some obviously do, Lol</div></div>

They're both UFAs, so younger doesn't really mean much over the course of a year (neither player is old enough where you worry about age related decline over the course of the season). I still say treating one player like they're a rental, while pretending the other comes with an extension, does nothing to help assess trade value though.

It's difficult to compare goalies and skaters, but of the two Saros was definitely better in the post-season, for what that's worth.

Yeah, giving Marner that huge new contract probably is a point of concern for NSH. RW is far from their biggest need, and that money would be better spent on at center and RD. Nyquist can still hold down the fort on the top line for another year. He's already got great chemistry with Forsberg and O'Reilly and he's an absolute bargain for someone who was a top 40 scorer this past season. Looking into the future, NSH has Evangelista, Kemell, Tomasino, Wood, Fink, etc - Marner doesn't really fill a hole for NSH. At least not one that justifies paying him $11M or more, plus giving up whatever assets it would take to trade for him.

You may not be a Leafs fan, but your super biased views on Saros specifically (and goalie value in general) is just as evident as any you may think I have.
