If Huberdeau is included you'd have to add to Ovi as well as retain a little
No !
Don't you think the exclamation mark is a tad too dramatic bud?
There's an 8 year age difference between Huberdeau and Ovechkin. One was once a god, yet isn't the same as before. The other was picked 3rd overall in 2011 and is continously becoming better and better.
The Huberdeau contract is very affordable and the term is extremely fitting. However, if I acquire Ovi, I'd be stuck with him for the next 4 years at a crazy salary of 9.5M. Hence me asking you to retain a little.
The direction of my team is to win with a young group of gents, and while Ovechkin doesn't fit that, I do need another veteran and a right handed scorer, which is the only reason why I'm pursuing this.
If you dont move Ovi, you're extremely cap screwed, and since I haven't even seen you get any other offers for him, the least you could do is explain why you're not interested in my ask, or make a counter offer of your own. It isn't that difficult Math. It's called negotiating.
