GM Game 2017-2018: Montreal Canadiens

Créé par: ricochetii
Équipe: 2017-18 Canadiens de Montréal
Date de création initiale: 15 sept. 2017
Publié: 15 sept. 2017
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Win now mode.

Status: Looking for depth improvements and futures.
I'm listening to anything, but main roster is pretty much set, so offer accordingly.

---------- Available -----------
Schlemko - 3rd/4th or equivalent prospect
Morrow - 6th/7th round prospect, prefer RW/RHD

Offers should include futures without having a negative impact on my roster. (ie: if you want Benn I'd expect a RHD that helps me now as well as a pick or a prospect).
If prices are high it is because I have no NEED to move anyone.

Players currently in the minors are negotiable (view Capfriendly team list: https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canadiens)

------------ Wants -------------
- Missing picks
- The last 5 years back

----------- Directives ------------
- Build a contender
- Manage cap
- Restock picks

** Ignore lines and roster set up. I'll be playing with it a lot. **

----- Player Rights -------
F: Naatinen Pezzetta Cates Vejdemo Ikonen Trunev Friberg
D: Koberstein Staum Henrikson Tyszka Walford Fleury Brook
G: Hawkey

----- Notes -----
I own the 2nd (WSH - 2018) from the conditional picks in the Drouin/Sergachev trade.

a 5th is too high for any of those players but i'd be willing to do a conditional pick

What condition did you have in mind?
I'm also willing to consider equivalent prospects. These players are at a point where they could contribute now, but I'd prefer players that are still a couple years away in exchange.

I don't really see much NHL ability in any of them. Maybe we value them differently. I'd be willing to do like a conditional 7th based on games played by each of them. Any interest?

Carr is a decent bottom 6 forward and has had limited NHL action. He's only had 2 years worth of opportunity, but performed well in the 50+ games he has played.
Mitchell is one of the better veteran bottom 6 forwards in the NHL imo. Can play anywhere and in any situation and is also very strong on faceoffs.

I'd be willing to do Carr for an unconditional 7th, since I simply don't have room.

Eh nvm then. I want something cheap since they'd be a press box/depth forward piece. Not giving up anything significant though

7th isn't significant Sticking Out Tongue, but I'd be willing to do either of them for Noah Cates if you'd prefer not to spend a pick.

Picks are picks. I would rather not give up a prospect and sure pick for guys that are being waived IRL and probably in the game unless there are conditions on it.

No problem. If you don't like a player enough to give up that much, maybe he's not the best fit for you after all. smile

Hey Rico, I have a three way trade in mind here. It would involve me giving you Huberdeau and you giving me back one of Drouin/Galchenyuk/RyJo. Interested?

Not at this point in time. If I move Lehkonen at all, it will likely be further into the season, and only if I end up adding a player that bumps him from the lineup.
Prospects aren't my primary concern. I'm in win now mode.
If you're looking for some potential offensive punch and would consider someone like Scherbak instead, I'd be interested in McLeod.

Anything involving the players you propose would be a lateral move for me, at best.
No plans on moving either of Drouin or RyJo, due to them being recent acquisitions.
Galchenyuk could possibly be available at some point, but nothing imminent. I'm reviewing the team now that the season has started and trying to decide if I need to invest in a LHD.
                    Who's the 3rd party?

I did discuss the possibility of Yandle with your predecessor, but that was before the clarification on NMC's and it was questionable whether I would be able to fit him anyway.
If I decide I need a LHD, I might be interested in Leddy. Probably wouldn't seriously consider anything until next month, but figured I'd throw it out there.

3rd party is Minnesota. I'd want a center if the deal goes thru which is why I'm interested in those guys. We'd do Huberdeau for Galchenyuk as a base, and then you could negotiate something with Icegirl to complete the 3 way. I'd want to get this done today, but it seems your not interested in rushing anything?

I tried to get the BOE to waive the NMC on Yandle, which was unsuccessful. If it was waived, I would have been open to moving him. Leddy, however, most likely won't be moved - I just acquired him and view him as a #1 dman (on his team especially laugh), so even if I were to move him, the price would have to be crazy high. Saying that, I'm always open to offers, so if you want to make one always feel free to do so - just note it'd take a lot to get him is the jist of what I'm saying

I definitely wouldn't be moving quickly, so nothing would happen today regardless.
You want to trade Huberdeau for a center, not sure how Minnesota is involved? (I don't think it matters, as Minnesota doesn't have what I want, just curious)

Understood on Leddy. Will keep Yandle in the back of my mind should he waive IRL. His contract may well be too hefty for me to manage even if he does, but I'll figure that out if the time should come.

Not really interested in Reinhart. Even if he establishes himself as a center, I've already covered my needs at that position for the foreseeable future.

I thought you'd like him as a RW where Galchenyuk is a LW/C

Ahh. I put in my description to ignore line setups cause I'll be playing with it a lot. Still not interested, but I see where you were coming from now.

Lehkonen is actually playing RW currently, so I'd probably just flip him to that side if I was trying to more accurately position Galchenyuk.
(Personally, I'd like to see Galchenyuk on the right for his shot anyway. Lets him simplify his game and focus on shooting.)

Astronomical right now. I can't put an accurate price on him without seeing more.
I'll say a 1st and a replacement prospect based on what he "might" be able to accomplish.
Moving him while his value is questionable isn't in my best interest.

Hey Rico, I responded on my page about Palmieri, but now that I'm here, I see you've moved Scherbak. What do you have in mind? I could use a potential top 6 replacement, a two-way D prospect, and/or picks in a Palmieri deal. For now, I'm just hearing some offers, I have no real rush to move him.

That's fine. I'm in no rush either. Exploring options and looking for someone with a good chance to pot 20 goals. Palmieri seems like a decent fit.
Not sure I would move Juulsen for a winger, but I might consider it if he's a decent chunk of the deal. If part of a trade for Palmieri is a replacement top 6 winger, that might be an issue.
Unless Shaw or Hemsky step up their game and qualify, moving one top 6 winger plus for a top 6 winger is negative value for me. It might be different if there were salary or age considerations involved, otherwise I'd just be giving away assets for a lateral move. I'll do some more poking around and maybe we'll see if something is possible later.

I wouldn't retain on Shaw for 5 years unless I was getting a player at somewhat of a bargain for a similar length of time.
3 years on an ELC + a bridge deal or someone making $5M x 5 (ish) but producing like a $6M player, as examples.
Haven't seriously considered moving Danault yet. Have him penciled in to replace Plekanec next season.

Might be interested in Kane if we could work something out. You get Shaw and Danault in the process. Depends if you plan on re-signing him.

Right now I'm waiting for the Plekanec as 2nd line C "experiment" to end so I can see what Shaw and Lehkonen might be capable of this season.
If both can get on track for 20 goals, I may be able to just wait and explore the rental market.

Probably gonna resign Kane or trade him for a really good player, he is driving the Sabres almost non existent offense.

Probably to be expected until they get things sorted out. Maybe check back later in the season.
