We currently have 5 left shooting defenders on the roster in Walman, Chiarot, Määttä, Edvinsson, Johansson and one of them has to go. Here we get a winger with a very high upside who is close to being NHL-ready and a pick and a hopeful. It's a good deal that maybe can be bettered by tinkering with the retention or the pick but the base is there. The chance of Walman staying with us after next year is already very slim considering what we expect from Edvinsson and also that we have Wallinder coming up soon (not to mention Cleveland).
