I just don't think Ullmark warrants a top 4 defenseman and a first round pick, it's a huge overpay for Ottawa.

if the Sens are retaining half on Forsberg then a) that costs more then and b) there’s no actual reason for the Sens to dump forsberg. they’d save like what, 400k in cap space by replacing Forsberg with an ELC? because the Sens definitely can’t be going into the season spending 5 on Ullmark, 4 on Korpisalo, and 1.25 for Forsberg to play for another team

I don't want to get into the exact trade value, but this is a misrepresentation of the situation. I assume they think Chychrun is going to hit UFA, and I do not personally think Boston is already talking to Chychrun. Ullmark wants to sign long term, and presumably we know that because Boston allowed conversations to happen with Ottawa. If all of these things are true, then it has to factor in to the trade value. If Boston takes back Forsberg, that also must be factored in. For them, that is basically like taking on a cap dump.

I thought a 1st + Chyc was extreme before, but if Ully has an extension in place and the Bruins are also eating 2.75m in salary for 1 year, I don't think it sounds so crazy anymore. Maybe still a bit of an overpay for Ottawa, but not as far off as I thought before without the extension + without Forsberg.

The Sens need to address their D-core before considering making an aggressive move for a goaltender, or they will hang him out to dry like they did Korpisalo.

Staios would be smart to move 25OA and Chychrun separately. This can't be his first move as GM.

Chychrun will not make it to UFA status as that would would be a compounded mistake inherited by Dorion, they gave up too much to let him walk without recouping something.
