From Boston’s perspective, I feel like they could sign a defenseman at $2.4M in free agency that would be a net upgrade over that offer with Ullmark in tow for one year.

I just don’t view the 39th pick in this draft as worth it.

I get the offer. I think Boston could do better than that. Personally believe that standing pat is better.

They aren’t signing Chychrun long term with Lohrei. I’m pretty comfortable they’d pass.

This draft from 20 through 40 isn’t appealing enough to take a guy we are burying and losing 1.6M in cap space for. Forsberg sucks. The only redeemable aspect of him is his contract ends this year.

Forsberg literally had .908 and .917 save percentages before his injury . Guaranteed he’d back to that in Boston . Korpisalo sucks. Forsberg does not

If you really believe that, then why not go with him next year? My perspective is Forsberg is basically the guy who saves what he is supposed to and nothing more. Saying he sucks was an overstatement, but I do believe that the only redeemable aspect to him for Boston is his contract expires this year

IMO, he is worth probably about 1.15M on the open market if that. I’d rather have Driedger at 825k than him.

His inclusion just adds a level of complexity to a deal that doesn’t need it. You should try to dump him for cheaper to another team if you think he has value.

Boston should take him if Ottawa does full retention. I’m OK with burying about 200k if he is what he appears to be.

it doesnt really matter how good he is boston has 2 25 yearold goalies ready to make the jump and play some NHL time. Getting a goalie at 2.7m and a D that would be playing 3rd pair mins with both walking at the end of the year that adds net cap from ullmark is just useless. theres far better 3LD fits then chyc near 5m hit and far better fits at goalie for >1m then forby. it has to fit both teams, if ur Ret% on chyc then boston probably would take him + 2nd but if ur forcing forby in theres no reason for them to take it unless ur paying for them to take his cap

The pick and Forsberg aside, you can just flip Chychrun in another deal. Standing pat isn't an option, Bruins need to capitalize on his value now before there's less time remaining on his deal or he regresses.

I believe standing pat is an option, but I don’t believe they will have to if this article is true. I may have to apologize to Bruce Garrioch.

Curious what Sweeney’s ask is right now especially if Ullmark is OK with Ottawa.

I can’t see Ottawa trading Chychrun and 25 for Ullmark. Could see them consider it if Boston takes Forsberg at full salary. I’ve thought that might be too complex of a structure, but maybe it isn’t.

I’d rather have Chychrun and 39 than that package personally. Curious to see what happens here
