Don't think the Islanders are interested in retaining any $ on guys they move out. Even if it means giving up extra draft picks Lou will want all $5 million of JGP's cap hit off the books

Question on Brannstrom; is he as effective on the right side as he is on the left? If so I could see VAN having some interest.

Brannstrom is a RHD through and through. Yes he is left handed but he has played the right side his entire life and is more comfortable there/plays his best hockey there. The reason he hasn't adapted well is that Dorion traded Mark Stone for him, so Dorion (realizing how ****ing dumb he is) decided to rush Brannstrom into the NHL on the left side, but as we know, he is most comfortable on the right. Since then his confidence has been shot, and was even played at LW this year. GIve him a good system and he can provide Hughes with some relief as a depth puck mover, taking the strain off of Hughes.

Don’t think Boston takes Forsberg without more retention and Kastelic doesn’t make the Bruins roster. That’s a negative in value and a 6th round pick doesn’t make it better. I believe that the Bruins would need a much higher pick if those are included.

He really doesn't suck. He is still young with a lot of potential and has showed flashes of greatness many times over the past few years, he just needs the right system to thrive in. I wouldn't talk about players when you don't watch the team religiously, because you have no idea what happens every night when they play.

I think theres a chance he makes the roster. He has a great track record in faceoffs and can play the PK pretty well, can also block shots. He adds more value than Geekie imo. Forsberg was more of an expiramental thing, just thinking how it goes. Ottawa could retain some more and probably throw another pick in but I do believe Ullmark's value is being inflated.

That is going to be a tough move. You guys would probably have to give up a 2nd rounder to make that happen

Agreed the Isles just really need a shot in the arm, probably a RHD like Walker or Roy if they do an Ehlers/Pulock swap

he'll be 25 before he skates another shift, and his been in the league since before covid. we know what he is. my favorite team is a divisional opponent, i've seen him plenty. when he's noticable, nothing impresses.

Completely agree. With this in mind though I don't think it's impossible that this is close if those pick/prospect changes happen. Sens need to move goaltending out and change their room. Bruins could try and flip him or make him a serviceable backup for swayman if the retention is higher. But that would mean that sens are completely moving on from both goalies and I feel it's more likely that they move/buyout korpisalo and keep forsburg as their backup.

Don’t even see him in the same league even though you might be able to extrapolate advanced stats despite the significant difference in points to come to your position.

I wouldn’t value Kastelic at all and it sounds like you may like him. Those are generally not players that are traded.

Either way, this is probably Chychrun plus some good (not great) asset for Ullmark.

He can be effective in the right role if he's sheltered properly. Can definitely play the right and as mentioned by others he has preferred it in the past.

If he was being deployed properly I'd much rather Ottawa keep him but Dorion is gone so hopefully the Stone debacle can finally be put behind us because Branny deserves a fresh start.

It was a stupid trade by Sweeney who has been an elite GM. He tends to focus on his teams evaluation skills and they are taking a risk that Korpisalo’s one outlier year can be built upon.

Totally unnecessary. They would have been better off just keeping Ullmark for a year and letting him walk outright.

Kastelik is a 4th line guy who can fight. I’m glad we effectively replaced Pat Marron with an AHL type.

If I could give Sweeney an F-, I would. He got limited cap room and a pick in a draft where there is a significant drop off. Hope someone good drops, but my guess is that player will be taken at 24 and the guy he acquired will not be worth this risk.

Maybe he has a master plan in trading Korpisalo? IDK what he was thinking but the valuation for the trade was close to what I was expecting. With Markstrom and Kuemper off the market, it was only going to drive the price down.
