Trading a 1st OR Marino for an unretained Binnington would be incredibly stupid, let alone both

He had a 2.84 gaa and .913 save% that's really good season. And Hofer is probably going to get more time in net next year.

Yes, 1 good season.

The 2 before that were atrocious

Top 5 last year in GSAx. And may have had a rough season or two in there but that was without a good team and was still clutch in the playoffs. He almost single-handedly beat the Avs in 2022.

This package is a higher price than goalies get and an overpay but Binner is better than markstrom and If people didn’t hate his tantrums, you see him in far more armchair GMs

Your opinion here is incredibly stupid since you clearly don't watch him play or have paid attention for the last season.

No, they were not. But you just said he hasn't been good in 2-3 years when you KNOW he was definitely excellent this past season. So why even say that nonsense you know isn't true?

Cause they just like to stir the pot with zero knowledge is my guess. Some of the worst takes on here

He has not been good in 2/3 years, 2 out of 3. / is out of, like a fraction, not a - which would be 2 to 3 years

He had an excellent season.

The 2 before that were ****.

If you traded your goalie in for whichever guy had a good year and paying a 1st+ you’d be doing it every year. You’d be doing it again the next year when Binnington very likely comes back to earth for the next guy who has 1 good year

Binner is about the same as Markstrom. Both had excellent years last year and disasters the year before. With large price tags. Binner is younger but Markstrom had a MUCH better 21-22

I’d pay a 2nd for both unretained. Retain some and we can get some actual value.

Was great in 2019, 2020 before COVID. Then he had what, one bad year and a few average. But most of it was defense in front of him having more holes than Swiss cheese. This past year he single handedly carried the Blues close to a playoff spot. Without him the Blues were a bottom 5 team. I'd hate to trade him but he will be on the decline once we are ready to compete. He's arguably better than Markstrom (I'd say Calgary had a better d core at least). Everyone just hates on Binner cause of his "attitude" but most of that is 1) hes sick and tired of getting demolished all game and 2) no one really seems to have an edge right now on the Blues where they Will stand up for a teammate or try to light a fire under their butt's. Binner would carry the Devils to the playoffs and can steal a series or two if needed.

Binnington was only slightly better this season than last. Everyone keeps telling you this. If you read the local scribes, they'd all tell you the same thing. Binnington has had one bad season, 21-22, which he actually began and ended on heaters. He was also not as good in 20-21 as his stats would tell you.

And flames fans will say the same **** about Markstrom
And CBJ fans the same **** about merzlikins
And Anaheim fans the same thing about Gibson
And Tampa fans the same thing about Vasy this year

Etc etc etc.

You hear the same bull**** from every single fanbase and every single team.

Every expensive, or young, or locked up long term goalie has their fanbase convinced that it’s not his fault, that anytime the numbers say he’s good they’re true and any time they don’t they’re fake

Yeeeeah, that's manufactured nonsense. It's amazing how many misdirection "gotcha" angles one can come up with when they don't waste time watching the hockey players they are talking about... tears of joy
