Pass Evangelista is already on the pace to be what necas has become or possibly better. Rather keep him and see what he does with more ice time and better line mates

Michael Russo said that a Rossi trade is fairly likely, so I'm just going off of that. Although the talks have died down since he said it about a month ago.

Mittelstadt for Byram set the price for Necas. Necas is a similarly-good player to Mittelstadt with a longer track record and the exact same amount of team control left. Byram's the kind of young asset that it'll require. Rossi works as that, and so would Evangelista from Nashville or Perfetti from Winnipeg.

Yea I wouldn’t trade him if I was Minnesota. I think they’ll regret it. Even bringing back necas

Mittlelstadt for Byram worked because it filled a position of need for both teams. Trading a young winger for an older winger who is about to get paid makes no sense

Even a trade like that makes sense sometimes, though usually it would be the contending team taking the older player and the retooling team taking the younger player. The question is if Nashville has a Byram-like player who they would be willing to trade for a guy that improves your offense. Carolina is not looking for futures or draft picks; they want an immediate contributor with at least two seasons of team control.

Free agency has players to improves our offense without having to give up our best youngest player in a trade. Now if we were talking about tomasino+ I would be all for but asking for someone’s best young player it will be a no

Tomasino + feels like a weak return unless the plus is significant enough. Canes are looking for a RH center with strong defense for their bottom-6, so Sissons (with salary retention) may work as an addition. Nashville is potentially competing with a club like Utah, who may be willing to offer Crouse as the return. To Carolina, a guy like him would IMO be the platonic ideal catch.

I just don’t think necas is a must get from Nashville. He’s looking for a big pay day with at least 7 million a year and to be honest besides that one year where he got 71 points I don’t think he’s worth it. If I’m Utah I’m not offering up crouse, he’s a consistent 20 goal scorer that’s only making 4 a year.

You don’t get Necas for box of chocolates bud

Someone pays up or he remains a cane
