That's fair. The pens probably wouldn't want to give up to much more so I think getting rid of the retention would make it work for both teams

If CBJ is retaining then the return will be more I would think. Also I wouldn't give Ned that contract. Little too rich.

Bemstrom wouldn't be a target, that ship already sailed. Value-wise, not terribly far off IMO, but I think Laine is a prime candidate for conditional picks. Probably the 2nd upgrades to a top-15 protected 1st if he plays 65+ games next year, or something along those lines. Also swap Bemstrom for a different (better) prospect.

Retention level is good and the basis is good. Man I'd hate to see him go to the Pens, regain form, and immediately score 40 though...
