Why would he want to leave? They just made the Stanley cup finals

He's a sign and trade anywhere he goes obviously. Use some deductive reasoning.

It is a serious question especially for a post that is labeled “Draisaitl is as good as gone”. Does anyone know he wants to go?

good as gone is obviously a stretch, but to ask why he would leave edmonton....have you heard of edmonton?

Yes it has. Look at the Tkachuk trade. That wasn't a rental price. Don't be ignorant.

tkachuk was an RFA, not a UFA. there would have been team control there. the only reason it was a "sign and trade," was to get Tkachuk the 8th year. just a paper transaction

if you're going to call people ignorant, you should have at least a minimal understanding of what you're talking about.

yes u should trade ur #1/2C who can play wing, ur young massive LD who already has a good offensive game and improved a ton during the year, elite young 25 yearold goalie who is a top 3-5 goalie over the last 4 years, 2 first and a near NHL ready player for someone who wants out. u kill ur future and ur chance of winning right now. would be cool to see drai in a bruins jeresy but hes just not worth killing ur future for were the bruins are.

Yes Tkachuk had one year left of RFA status before free agency and told Calgary he wouldn't re-sign long term. If Draisaitl isn't going to re-sign in Edmonton then they are going to trade him to a team that he will be signing a long term extension with. They don't have to be the exact same scenario for it to be a comparable still. There are enough similarities.

If you can't use some deductive reasoning to put that together then you are either trolling or too dense to have a sensible conversation with.

This trade feels close to fair. In reality the Oilers probably don't trade Draisaitl, but this series has showed that, despite how far they have come, they won't win the cup without a goalie, depth, and team defense, and who knows if he wants to live in Edmonton for 8+ more winters. In negotiations, I would try to use the "rental" aspect of Draisaitl to negotiate the price down, but if you ask me take it or leave it, assuming he would be re-signing, I take it. There will almost certainly be no other chance in the next 5-10 years to acquire a player as good, and it leaves the team have a lot of cap to maneuver with (I would sign a better D than Dillon to replace Lohrei and complement McAvoy and add a scoring winger in place of Lindholm).

one has a year left before UFA, one is under team control. not in the same ballpark.
