Nelson Trade

You’re right lol I had some weird stat come up from Anders Lee I think it was career playoff goals even though I looked up regular season points, my bad, didn’t mean Palmieri was washed.

Nelson Trade
Nelson right now is miles better than Zacha. Islanders might consider this because Zacha is younger and they are not really close to contention. 1 goal in 25 playoff games is not a small sample size at this point, and Zacha's regular-season point totals are overinflated from playing with Pastrnak. If we expect Pastrnak to actually produce in the playoffs you have to give him a linemate capable of scoring, Nelson is a better offensive center than Lindholm and probably the best available center offensively this summer. At the end of the year you can decide to pay Nelson or put his money toward other available centers. Zacha scored 21 goals on a line with Pastrnak, Nelson scored 34 on a line with washed Anders Lee and Palmieri. That is not a small upgrade by any means.
Dillon maybe a bit overpaid sure and I'd rather give him 2.75-3 million, but would pay this as he is a legitimate second pair d-man who kills penalties and would put the Bruins in a much better position to contain opponents top scorers--the defense was awful in the playoffs and consistently bailed out by Swayman, they NEED a steadying presence like Dillon. I'd bet you the Bruins don't sign Dillon, but I'd also bet someone gives him 2-3 years at 4.5+.

On the really off-chance Draisaitl gets moved
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>colby</b></div><div>u can find replacements for lysell or zacha but its not worth to trade sway when u could keep him, trade ullmark for a decent package (either top 6 fwd/top4D and a pick) and let pots lohrei and fredy grow into players while resigning coyle and marsh to team deals (coyle grew up a boston fan and 100000% would do that to stay) they have pasta, lindholm and McAvoy long term so there "win" window isnt for another few years. pots and lohrei look to have elite potential and while drai is great if im boston im not sniffing near him unless its lysell + zacha + ullmark + a first. if its maybe a draft pick or 2 sure u can add them in but trading sway and a young kid and picks is just too much. if im boston im only moving fredy if its a good deal, lohrei and pots are off limits unless its for Connor and sway ur not moving for anyone unless its a 1-1 for connor or Drai. Adding drai doesnt put this team over the edge esp if ur lossing sway who was the only reason they beat Tor and had even a semi close against Fla.</div></div>
I understand what you mean. I disagree a bit on the value of some of our players, as well as the impact of Draisaitl on the team and especially on Pasta, but I do see where you are coming from. Would ideally do this without Swayman involved obviously. Feel like Ullmark, Zacha, Lysell, Frederic (I like him a lot but think he would need to go if you are trying to not include Swayman, Poitras or Lohrei), a 1st and 2nd would be ideal with a lot of value going to Edmonton while maintaining a lot of our young corps. Anyway, it's likely a moot point. Either way, go Bruins!!!

Drai Trade

I'm a bruins fan, and I'm curious--what do you think a reasonable Bruins trade for Draisaitl looks like? I agree its highly unlikely, but still.

Yah in this situation I'd try to extend him 4-5 years for between 6 and 7 million. Curious, as a neutral fan in this case, what do you think about the fairness of the trade here? And what would would you think about a trade more like: Zacha, Ullmark w/ extension in Edmonton, Lysell, Frederic, 1st, 2 2nds?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>colby</b></div><div>hard pass. hes elite yes but hes def not worth throwing ur future away into a win now forced mode. If edm wanted a 1st or 2 and lysell + someone like geeke and fredy then sure u go for it but if they want a top 6 our young talent, prospects, picks and a top 3 goalie in the NHL whos only 25 u just dont do it even if its "equal" value. just not worth would rather see them keep growing as a team with the young kids and add in FA and see what happens</div></div>
I understand your perspective, but I feel like adding Draisaitl for the next 9 years and building around makes this a win now and later move rather than just throwing away the future to win now. Swayman is the big loss here, and if you can somehow convince them to take Ullmark+Frederic+another 2nd in his place, the cap works out and you have an incredible team for the next 10 years. I also personally believe its time to move on from Zacha--based on his production he will have strong trade value but his playoff lack of scoring has been shown over a large enough sample size in my opinion that I am happy moving him for a better asset. I just don't see another time in the next 10 years where the bruins can acquire a top 6 player in the league (McDavid, MacKinnon, Maker, Tkachuk, Kucherov being the only ones ahead), and you can find a replacement for a Lysell or Zacha in FA.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lets_Go_Bruins2024</b></div><div>I really wouldn't want to do that if I'm being honest. We're losing probably a top 3 young goaltender, a top 6 forward and our top prospect- I know how good Draisaitl is but we just don't have the depth to be able to do that. I'd much rather target someone like Lindholm to fill the 1C and then get someone like Chychyrun for Ullmark to have a more well-balanced team that would have a better chance of winning. If Draisaitl can't get it done on a loaded Oilers team he's certainly not putting this team over the top.</div></div>
I would absolutely love to pay less than that price for Draisaitl if he were traded, I was trying to be fair on pricing but if he'd go for less that'd be great. Elias Lindholm really doesn't do it for me. He's a second line center not much better than a Charlie Coyle (he'll win more face-offs and that's about it). I feel like the ACGM I made as a whole is far deeper than last year's Bruins. Draisaitl is twice the player Zacha or Lysell will ever be, and this trade leaves enough cap room to add a lot of depth (see Zadorov and Kane additions).

Draisaitl is as good as gone
This trade feels close to fair. In reality the Oilers probably don't trade Draisaitl, but this series has showed that, despite how far they have come, they won't win the cup without a goalie, depth, and team defense, and who knows if he wants to live in Edmonton for 8+ more winters. In negotiations, I would try to use the "rental" aspect of Draisaitl to negotiate the price down, but if you ask me take it or leave it, assuming he would be re-signing, I take it. There will almost certainly be no other chance in the next 5-10 years to acquire a player as good, and it leaves the team have a lot of cap to maneuver with (I would sign a better D than Dillon to replace Lohrei and complement McAvoy and add a scoring winger in place of Lindholm).

Absurdly Unrealistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>in a mcavoy for tkachuk trade you think the bruins have to add?
thats unhinged.</div></div>
Is it really that crazy? In reality neither guy is getting traded, but is McAvoy really the top 5 D-Man we think he is? Offensively he's not top 20 and defensively he's excellent off the rush but pretty average once the puck has entered the d-zone. Plus with a pretty large sample size now he is not a playoff guy, I can't think of the last time when he did not get outplayed by an opposing defenseman in a seven game series. He's a great Bruin, but is he really as great and irreplaceable as we all think?

I agree--I would rather do something different than this. This is my projection of what management will actually do, which is almost certainly off. It's a projection rather than an ideal. Although I hope we resign Debrusk

Realistic Offseason
Probably agree on Lysell Poitras, whoever shines in camp probably gets a look with Marchand and whoever else is there. Or Lysell doesn't make it and Geekie or Heinen slide back up. I really don't love Lindholm at 8, but agree it is probably what they actually do. There's about .5 million there plus you can just not sign Maroon to cover that cap space. I want Jake back after his playoff performance, I think he either gets a deal like that in Boston or a 6.5 in a less attractive market. If he walks you could replace that with say a Toffoli for around the same dollar value, or maybe Arvidsson or Kane for less. What are your thoughts on a Kane signing if DeBrusk walks with over 35 incentives built into the contract? He's obviously one dimensional but this team struggles to score and he can still put up points. I wouldn't mind a 3.5 deal with 1 million in bonus for say 35+ points.

Probably right on McNabb--have seen other ACGMs do a similar type of trade but would prob need more, would upgrade the 3rd to a 2nd and add a later pick for him. I think moving McAvoy for a high end superstar forward who brings grit and scoring, like a Brady Tkachuk, wouldn't be a bad idea, given the availability of top 4 defenseman like Montour, Zadorov and Skjei--obviously the team got further than expected, but McAvoy was not a reason why in the playoffs. He's valued as a top 5-10 defenseman without being able to be PP1 or PK1 on a contender, but can bring a huge return. I feel like the team as is was not even close to beating Florida. It is a moot point as outside of fantasy land, they never consider moving McAvoy, we don't sniff near a guy as skilled as Guentzel, Zacha gets yet another chance in the playoffs and another season inflating his point totals riding with Pastrnak, and we add nothing but Lindholm, who is a good player but doesn't solve the team's big issue of high end scoring.
