Hawks have no use for another LD so they arent signing Skjei.

8 years for a young winger star that can teach Bedard and find success with him? I wouldn't be so quick to shut that down. Also Marner and liligren's rights for a replaceable RD, a good young player and picks you have to spare is very fair.

Just because they have picks "to spare" doesn't mean Chicago trades them to your favorite team in this deal. Lily is okay but not a game changer and Marner leaves as a UFA next summer. That's poor asset management.

Younger winger? Guentzel will be 30 when the next season starts. That isn't young, at least not in NHL terms.

Guentzel is turns 30 on the third day of next season. He's not a young winger, and if he drops off he becomes a huge waste of cap space.

Easy no from Chicago. One year of Marner is not worth that to the Hawks, and because the Leafs only own 1 year of him, there is no way the Hawks give that up...not even close. Lillypad isn't worth much to the Hawks either...maybe a late 2nd at best.

Further, Alex Vlasic is a stud....2nd best NHL defensive player in the dzone last season AS A ROOKIE playing top line against the toughest competition. Zero reason for the Hawks to sign Skjei.

Frank Nazar either plays top 9 role or plays in the AHL...he's not playing on the 4th line or as a 13th player.
