It's weird, all these Laine trades I've been seeing are either extreme over payment. Or hilarious under payments.

WE. DON’T. WANT. ANDERSON. BACK.

STOP.

He is Montreal’s problem. They traded for him, paid him handsomely, and he’s never been the same.

Giving anything is an overpayment tbh. I think they would give him away for free with that contract.

Neither are you. You just post the 57th “Laine for Josh” thread and think it’s gonna somehow be different.

No one is taking 2 cap dumps in return for any player. Anderson on his own would cause any team to nix the deal.

There are tons of teams already inquiring about him. Any team that has the means and assets to take a chance on this guy should. He's at 8.75, but only for 2 season. He definitely can have part of his contract retained. Pretend he's a worthless asset all you want, you just look like an idiot.

Any team that trades for him will be sending back a bad contract.

Laine is signed to one of the worst contracts in the nhl. No team is taking on 9 mill just for the hell of it lol. They’re taking back a bad contract.

Anderson is the worst correct in the NHL. No one is taking that. Period.

Guy who scored 20 goals in 60 games a year and a half ago at 5.5 vs a guy who scored 20 in 50 a year and a half ago for 9. Anderson is 30 and Laine is 26, otherwise everyone is taking the 20 goals at 5 vs 20 goals at 9. At least he plays some defense and forechecks once in a while lol. Laine is a head case and he’s injured even more than Anderson is. He’s a complete waste of a roster spot. Making this move saves them almost 4 mill and removes that issue from the team. I’m sure they’d be happy with that.

Laine has potential still. Anderson is and had been pure dead cap for a couple years and getting worse every day. The cost to move Anderson would be crippling.

Yet they had similar goal production the last few years lol. Laine has potential, sure, but nobody believes he is going to fulfill it, go get your 2nd 2nd chance but we all know he’ll be in Liiga or the khl in a year or two.

While Anderson will still be dead cap. Anderson has fluked 20 goals twice. He'll never get near that again.

Yeah for one year, but the plus is you save 4 mill over each of the other two years.

Laine still provides value. Anderson is less than worthless dead cap. He produces nothing positive. He is $16.5 mil of dead cap.

Considering they’ve produced similar goal numbers over the last 3 years I’d say he’s just as likely as Laine to do the same over the next 2-3 years. Why is Laine more likely? If anything his situation is worse considering he’s been in the player assistance program. Not only does he have to be 100% on the ice, but off of it too? That’s a risky situation.

But let’s say Anderson is dead cap, you’re still saving 4 mill and in any deal you’re going to be taking back a player with a large cap hit who is not useful. Columbus will not get a useful player in return for Liane. It’s that simple, but they might be able to get a couple useful futures along with the bad contract they take back. No team can just take on 9 mill right now, and the ones that can aren’t going to for free, there’s to much risk.

Maybe Edmonton can send them Campbell for him, but they’d rather have Anderson. Can’t see to many options out there for Columbus to explore.

Campbell is the only thing that works for Anderson. And even then Campbell has more of a chance of being useful than Anderson does.

Although Montreal would need to add to compensate for Edmonton taking the worse contact.

Not that Edmonton has the cap space to throw away.

I’m talking about Campbell++ for Laine… Like I said, Columbus will have to take back a bad contract.

Anderson definitely has a better chance at being useful. Scored 20 goals in 60 games a year and a half ago. Campbell had half a season of good play in his entire career.

Go ahead and make an offer to get Anderson for LA. I'm sure Montreal would move to dump that albatross.

CLB may have to take back questionable contract value, but they won't have to take the single worst contract in hockey in Anderson.

Montreal would have to add to Anderson to get Campbell.

The single worst contract in hockey is Huberdeau’s. All Anderson would have to do is produce the same way he did, literally a year ago and he would be about 1.5 mill over market value, that isn’t the worst contract in hockey. We’re talking about Campbell in this thread who plays in the ahl and makes 5 mill for like 4 more years and was never good lol.

We can just leave it at, you like Anderson, I don't.
