I mean... Just look at that trade again. It is awful. Merzlikins is a cap dump that would cost CBJ to move, and Laine is on his way to being that as well. And you have CHI giving up an 18th overall pick, two 2nd round picks, a roster player, and a good prospect? You could take everything out that CHI is sending to CBJ and I still don't think CHI would accept.

Then you are burying Kurashev, you tried to trade Jones for an awful return and luckily removed that trade, you're bringing in way too many UFA's, and gave Lindholm way too much money and term.

It would be easier to list what's good about it: oh wait, there isn't anything. Too much $ for Lindholm. Too much term for Marchessault. Rest of the UFA's aren't players the Hawks would target other than maybe DeSmirh. The Hawks aren't putting Kurashev on waivers. He'd be claimed by San Jose instantly.
