Per request of the NHL? I think the caps just want to shut it down so it can't be used by other NHL teams

The Washington Capitals (soon to be Potomac Yard Capitals) are taking it private for themselves, not at request of the league.

I still have NO CLUE why they couldn't just build their own website. It's not hard and they already have a web team in place. Nothing on this site is private info or new info that you can't get anywhere else on the internet. So why take it away from the public? That's the question I want answered by Washington and the media.

CapFriendly has tools just for NHL teams and for the past couple of years those tools were basically Washington's scouting department. So they are buying it, which is really sad if you think about it. If that's how Washington runs its team, I kind of feel bad for Caps fans.

I don't get why you'd feel bad for Caps fans. It's been reported MULTIPLE times that multiple teams wanted to buy the site. I'm happy that my favorite team actually put forth the best offer and bought the site and employed the people who put it together and run it day to day, because if it wasn't them, it would've been someone else.

I don't care if people hate the caps, I am just shocked at the lack of comprehension and the amount of misinformation going around right now. This site was going down regardless, and other teams who were in on the site purchase were going to shut it down immediately.

Because to build something like CapFriendly would take a long time. Friedman reported that teams felt like their options were to wait upwards of two years to have something just as good in place, or you buy the site and hire on the guys behind it - the caps were either the first to jump on it or had the highest bid. Expecting any other response out of the caps would be setting yourself up for disappointment. They saw a deficiency in their hockey ops and they did what they could to fix it.

Guarantee the caps aren't here to make friends so they don't care.

not only are you wildly late, but also inaccurate.

there was never any shot the caps were going to leave it public. the league doesn't want it either, but they were the driver of this.

Caps drafting has been solid for a couple decades lol. No need to feel bad for us homie, we're perfectly fine where we're at

Thanks. It makes sense. I’m not a computer guy or tech savvy etc so to me to build something for 2 years is mind boggling. 🤷🏻‍♂️
