Obviously there's a significant chance Ottawa is on Linus' no trade list so this hypothetical is based on idea that they're not, or slim chance he's willing to waive.

I'm in favor of a Ullmark/ Lysell for Pinto/ Chychrun trade and feel this could be good for both teams- but I'm certainly presenting what I would want in best case scenario for the Bs in terms of the draft pick compensation.

As far as the Bs forward lines, I like the overall depth. For me, this particularly creates the center depth needed for the playoffs as opposed to this past season, but still think they're a top 6 wing short. Maybe you just can't have it all? Frederic and Heinen are interchangeable IMO, different skill sets but both can get hot and can compliment either 2nd or 3rd lines, and both can disappear for long stretches. Geekie could also push for second line minutes, and there's always a chance Brazeau could move up in the lineup. I also like the competition for 4th line minutes- and I'm not discounting Merkulov or Poitras sticking. Poitras is penciled in to a lot of Bs projections- I wonder if a year in the AHL, playing big minutes in all situations, could serve him better than bottom 6 minutes in the NHL.

That said, I love the overall composition of the D pairs. In this scenario, I think they have a very solid balance between offensive and defensive minded D, and think it's ideal to have Wotherspoon pushing for minutes as the 7th D. I do wonder if they might be lacking a big bodied/ bang in the corners/ battle at the net front, third pair option. Maybe something that can be addressed at the trade deadline.
