Overall, I think Carolina says no, or counters with a very different trade.

Here is my reasoning.
1) Brady Tkachuk (24) is a comparable trade to Guentzel (29) plus Necas and the 2nd to get them over the top. (Evenish, probably slightly favored to Ottawa)
2) Fredrik Andersen for Joonas Korpisalo (Not sure why they would do this part) and 5th round pick (Downgrade for Carolina)
3) Andrei Svenchnicov swap for Jakob Chychrun with resign? (Major lose on return for Carolina)
4) With the above said, where does the 1st rounder fit in?

Here is what I would expect in the counter:
Ottawa gets:
- Guentzel with Resign
- Necas with Resign
- Andersen (Better Goalie then they currently have even if he would technically be a cap dump from Carolina)
- 1st Round Pick
- 4th Round Pick

Caorlina gets:
-Tkachuk
-Chychrun

Reasoning
1) I think the first part from my previous reasoning is what keeps them interested so I think that part stays, but Carolina will what a touch more so they add part 2.
2) Andersen plus an upgrade from the 2nd to the 1st Round Pick and the addition of a 4th Round Pick gets them Chychrun if they are ready for Kochetkov to take the reigns in net.

CAR getting hosed. Even if you took the 1st and 2nd round picks out.... Id rather have Freddy, Necas, Guentzel, and Svechnikov than Korpisalo, Chychrun and Tkachuk.

that is way too much for Tkachuk. Take out at least the 1st round pick and maybe andersen

Tkachuk isn’t and likely will never be worth all that.
