Friedman said this morning that NJD and CGY are working on this deal again, but Calgary really trying to keep in quiet after the mess they made at deadline. Some Flames reporters have said recently that Markstrom is done in Calgary (“splitsville”) and that Fitzy holds the cards. From all reports about 10th overall pick, it does not sound like it’s in play. Instead, Conroy ends up with his original target from February in Holtz.

I think trading Holtz for Markstrom would be a mistake, I would really prefer not to sell low on Holtz. I also don't think they trade Foote.

Pospisil > Holtz. Whatever you think of him, Pospisil is not a guy you want to play against. He’s far more important the the Flames than Holtz would be

Flames don’t even need Holtz, so this makes absolutely no sense, especially with retention. We’ll find a better prospect and deal elsewhere for Markstrom with retention

Honestly, it’s a garbage offer

Halonen, and to an extent Willman, make Foote more expendable. I felt like I needed to include a bottom-sixer to replace Pospisil (not sure why Pospisil would be needed here).

As for Holtz…we have to pay something of significance and he was the guy from February trade…so we know they like him.

Flames say no, pretty easily.

There's nothing interesting in that package for the Flames.
I'd rather have Pospisil, then any player coming back from NJD.

I believe the Markstrom to NJD deal is pretty viable and they are talking, but I’d be stunned if it was for this.

Halonen and Foote are on par in my book. Foote maybe smidge behind based on skating. But I don’t really feel that strongly about it either way. Could see either lapping the other. (And really wish I was bullish again on Foote).

I view Willman is 13F type…not expecting upside like the other two.

I don’t consider Prospects with less than 100GP (“especially those who are no longer waivers exempt) “Players”, I consider them Waiver Fodder/AHL In Betweeners

Again, Holtz is a nice piece, but unless we’re moving Coronato, I don’t see the need or appeal to have him
