Description
This is what I hope the Canucks strive for in the playoffs and is semi-realistic. One of their biggest needs is a winger for Petey which I believe Buchnevich is a great fit because he is defensively sound as well. The package going back will start with Lekkerimaki and a 1st round pick but I'm sure more assets will need to be added.
One of the biggest wishes is brining Tanev back to pair with Hughes which will allow Hronek to move down a line and provide puck moving throughout the defence.
Another big move was not bringing back Dakota Joshua. He had a great season but I don't know how consistent that can be and believe that he is asking for too much based on his skillset. Would go after Warren Foeggle because he brings an element of speed that would fit well with Garland. I tried to replace Joshua with the "next" Dakota Joshua based on skillset. Ideally would like to trade Mikheyev with his full salary but seems unlikely so just bought him out instead.

Obviously not everyone is going to agree but lmk if you agree with the direction the Canucks should be taking.

If you're nit-picky about ~250k of salary or an extra 3rd pick then idk what to tell you go kick some rocks.

That’s an overpay for Buch. Would have to drop Lekkerimaki to a worse prospect for the Canucks to consider

I want a top 12 pick this year so we can get in on the top 6 D men. Couldn’t say no to this tho, would love to have lekkermaki in our F prospect pool.

Buch is great but I'd rather just keep and develop Lekkermaki

Think blues would want a dman prospect and a 24 pick for Buch over a winger and a 25 first

But I kinda like it. I’m a big fan of Lekkerimaki so I’d probably do this if the 5th is upped to a 3rd

Don’t think you’re wrong. That would be a huge return for is. I also don’t think a late 2025 1st and mid prospect gets it done. Probably want assets that can help us within 2-4 years. A late 2025 would probably be more 4-6 years from now.

I know you’re both against letting lekkermaki go, and in the ACGM, they bough out mikheyev, what if he was added as a cap dump to help tilt the scales? Still no from ya?

Yeah that’s fair, he’s a pretty electric prospect. I think a little better than our top guys in Snuggy and Dvorsky

Understandable. However the one thing is fans have more sentiment towards a player and their potential. Honestly, if the Blues were in a win now position, I'd be trading Snuggy for a good player to push us over the edge. It may hurt in 3-5 years to trade Lekkermaki but it may be necessary if it means winning now.

Just my two cents with fans reluctant to trade a good prospect. If you're in a win now situation it could benefit trading away someone that may not be on the roster for a bit, cause who knows where the team will be at that point.

If we're in win-now mode, I don't understand the reluctancy. I feel like the window is not as big as we hope for. A lot of contracts are due after next year plus Millsy's not getting any younger (as awesome as he is). As great as Lekky is, I'm not sure he'll be ready for another couple years and am hesitant on his fit with this coaching staff. I hope he blossoms but I'm not sure he's the ground breaking prospect some fans think he is. Our prospect pool isn't deep enough which sucks but we should be going all in if we have the chance right now.

Good teams sacrifice their future to win now look at Tampa and Vegas
