Seattle isn't going to go for that trade. They need to add scoring, not subtract it, so trading their leading scorer makes zero sense for them.

At the same time I don't understand why Edmonton would be trading their top non-roster assets for more scoring. It doesn't really make sense from either perspective.

However I think the team would be much better served spending the cap space on defense instead. Having Montour play 20 minutes per night would have a lot more impact than McCann's 14 minutes.

Looking at 5v5 scoring, McCann's numbers are almost identical to Foegele's. I wouldn't give up all that for a $5M Foegele.

McCann's 5v5 TOI/ GP is 9th on a mediocre Seattle squad. He made hay on the PP, but he wouldn't have that luxury in Edmonton.

I like McCann as a player, but there are better ways to spend the assets & cap space.

FYI this is not meant as a diss. Foegele/McCann's 5v5 scoring rates were top-100 in the league, very impressive numbers for guys playing on the third line.
