He's an RFA who can be signed at this price for a 1st and 3rd round pick...this trade gives Boston a 1st round pick plus former 1st and 2nd round picks.

If you'd prefer, I'd be happy to acquire the necessary 3rd round pick and see if Boston wants to match that salary with Ullmark on the books for next season

ughhhhh yes please. if he signed that, don sweeney would be elated. he's expected to be around 8x8 or 8x7. that would be the biggest no brainer match of all time. Want Swayman? offer one of the major pieces off the aves roster. ya, i'm talking those guys. otherwise, move along.

also, that contract would have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd going to boston in an offer sheet scenario, which again would be matched in about 8 seconds.

He's an RFA yes, but he can't be signed at that price. Swayman's agent laughs at that offer sheet and Boston would be happy to match that offer sheet at that price. Swayman is likely getting 7.5-8M x 7 or 8 from Boston. For him to accept an offer sheet it would likely have to be 9M+

Boston rejects the trade as-is.

No. Manson is coming off a 25 point season. Led the team in hits and is a Stanley cup champion. I'd say he's probably getting more than a 4th if he's moved. You guys have Gudas though, so I can understand not needing Manson. But Manson would 100% get more than a 4th.

That's totally fine, I'm not a professional here so I'm just going by his expected contract numbers from Evolving Hockey. He's obviously a great goalie but also a guy who has started more than 40 games once in his career. I'm purely looking at Boston with 5 million spent already on one goaltender so if you want to spend $13 million + on that position then that's cool with me.

I wouldn't say he's not very good. He had a brutal game 1 against the Jets. But other than that he was solid. Seigs is really good though. So I don't think the devils do that. Geo is decent. And gets a bad rap. But he's not worth siegs.

he won't get that, he'll get more.

This is totally fair, I just see New Jersey as a team desperately in need of better goaltending with the roster that they have, Siegenthaler is listed as a 3rd line D-man on New Jersey's depth chart on this website which seems replaceable while getting an upgraded starter.

Where are you getting that ranking? He's above Bahl, but he's simply different from Luke. Siegs is a mid price shutdown guy.

not how it works. that's calculated by taking the total value of the salary and dividing it by either the total number of years (AAV), or five if the term is greater than five years. there's a calculator for it on capfriendly.

Regardless, unless you get into the two firsts, second, and third category, the bruins wouldn't even consider letting swayman walk.

i think you're just a bit out to lunch on who the player is.

Literally just looking at their depth chart on this website, if we move Bahl below him I'm assuming you would still value Hamilton, Hughes, Marino, and Nemec above Siegenthaler though. Not saying that makes this trade make sense but, for me, I don't mind getting an upgraded starting goalie for the 5th best defenseman on my team.

Gauthier-Carlsson-Killorn
Vatrano-McTavish-Strome
Zellweger-Zegras-Terry
Whoever

Would consider swapping Terry and Killorn depending on fit, but both Z and Killer aren't fast skaters, don't want multiple pylons on the same line.

1. well, no. you aren't. you're offering less than an offersheet would
2. the contract you're offering is WAY below market value, and would constitute a minor miracle for boston as they pop champagne and match.
3. i'd get away from the, "former first rounder," argument. once a player is drafted they are a player. doesn't really matter where they were drafted. Those prospects don't look good.

so, again, i just don't think you know who the player is or how the offersheet system works. this offer wouldn't even get a negotiation started. it's just bad.
