Moving Guds for Trouba could offset the leadership vacuum (he is the Mark Messier leadership award winner after all), and definitely upgrades the defense a little. He's not a first-pair guy, though, so it's a short-term move especially if we're shipping out Severson, too. But if we ship him off half-retained at the 2026 deadline? I think that's fine.

If Levshunov slips past ANA for some reason, he should definitely be the pick. A long-term top-4 of Werenski, Jiricek, Mateychuk, and Levshunov should be pretty dominant.

Basically, we overhaul the defense here now and for the future, and it looks a lot brighter. I still think we need to thin the herd at forward and move Elvis before next season, though.

I would actually prefer Silayev to Lev. With Jiri and Z we have playmaking offensive D men. I would love to put Silayev with Jiri or Z since even as a 17yo in the K he was just as comfortable playing on his off side and his main side. Plus he would be showing up right as Guddy would probably be heading out.

I'd absolutely be thrilled with Silayev, too, I view him as about equal with Levshunov. Both would vastly improve the D-core within 2 years, IMO.
