Description
A more realistic plan with the way Lou operates. I still think Pageau is the lone regular he trades and he obviously uses one of his 2nd round picks to offload him and yes, I think Ehlers is his target ultimately and he again trades his first round pick again to acquire him. He might bring back Clutterbuck as well instead of one of the FA outside forwards I ultimately added- but in this plan Reilly is the only obvious re-sign aside from his two RFA's in Holmstrom and MacLean. He takes a risk on both Klingberg (hip surgery) and Nosek, both coming off injury-filled seasons and again I have them adding Lomberg. Kind of ho-hum, but even with trading a 1st and 2nd round pick (to get Ehlers and move JGP) he manages to replenish the farm somewhat with a pick each round in 2-7 and keeps his young remaining prospects while shipping Wahlstrom and Bolduc off

Détails additionnels:
For the second time in less than a month, Lou makes a pre-Draft Day trade by trading down in the first round again in order to secure more picks. He gains a 3rd and 7th rounder by swapping the 20th overall pick with the 26th overall with the Canadiens
MTL

Détails additionnels:
Montreal sends one of their 2 third round selections and the last of their three 7th round picks to move six spots up in the draft, now owning the 5th and 20th overall selections

NYI
One of two Draft Day trades Lou makes as he uses his recently acquired extra 2nd rounder to unload Pageau, which seems almost certainly to be his intended move. It could be any team that has cap space and would need to be one that isn't on his 16-team NTC; unless of course he waived it. With a second round pick attached as well as actual cash owed to him being only 7.5 million, no retention should be required

    1. Ehlers, Nikolaj
    Détails additionnels:
Yes, I still think Ehlers is Lou's target come draft day, and lets face it the Islanders havent made a 1st round pick this decade and odds are he trades it again this year as well. Sure a Pulock trade makes more sense, but not only do I think it is unlikely Ryan waives his NTC (but I repeat if he does it, a return closer to home might be the kicker) but I don't think Lou even approaches him to do so. Wahlstrom and Bolduc get fresh starts elsewhere and are added to the overall package
    WPG

    2. Wahlstrom, Oliver [Droits de RFA]
    3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (WPG)
    Détails additionnels:
The Jets will inquire about Pulock, but ultimately will settle on the first round pick (didnt have one), a couple of prospects (a former 1st and 2nd round pick in their own right) and use the gained cap space to go after blueliners in free-agency

Those trades are honestly all pretty good. Value wise thats great I think for all teams. Habs have tons of picks and prospects so I guess getting rid of some capital there to move up does not hurt. Pageau and a 2nd seems realistic, and that Ehlers deal is great both ways, I think that works out well for both given he is a FA soon.

Winnipeg doesn't consider that deal at all. But if you take out everything on the Islanders side and add Pulock, you've got a deal that the Jets consider.

This deal gives WPG cap space to explore a RHD in free agency like Carrier or Montour. Unfortunately the best of Pulock has come and gone. He's had a lot of injuries and can't really skate or contribute offensively like he used to

Cap space to sign big name FA's doesn't matter to Winnipeg as big name FA's don't sign in Winnipeg.

That's why Winnipeg needs to trade for players that fill needs and either have term left on their contract or team control. This deal does nothing to help Winnipeg win now which is what the trade would need to do.

It'll cost more than a 3rd and 7th for Habs to move up 6 spots. And if Ehlers comes to Long Island I assume the price is Pulock.
