Tkachuk type trade every team 5

Équipe: 2024-25 Maple Leafs de Toronto

Description
To big factors hurt this trade. Would dundon pay Marner? Second, only way Carolina entertains such a trade is with Kotkaniemi.

Plus this trade does not fix the fact that the team would prefer Guentzel for the money than Marner!

Kotkaniemi at this moment does not seem to be helpful for Toronto and way too much risk.

Hence the description. Carolina would want to offload KK in such a trade. Toronto would not want KK, then Carolina says no, no ,no, and this trade just doesn't happen.

Carolina don't want to offload KK, they love the player. One down season doesn't make him bad all of a sudden, he literally had a 40 point season last year while putting up ELITE analytical defensive numbers. He's not a dump, no matter how much you want to try and spin it.

Nah. Canes wouldn’t pay Marner a massive extension, wouldn’t trade Slavin and could just buy KK out or move him for FC.

My description said same thing. I don't see Carolina paying Marner and they would prefer to use the money on Guentzel! It's an excersize I am doing and so far 0 for 5, none of the teams would be a worthwhile trading partner for leafs.

No argument there. This is a excersize where AI see potential trades with Toronto and if what Toronto wants and needs makes sense with the other team. So far none of the teams made sense for Toronto.

Carolina might be a partner, but Slavin is a non-starter. There could be a Necas based package, but Slavin gets laughed out of here

True but Toronto needs more of a top 4 right handed puck moving DMan than a top 6 forward like necas. But yes there could be something there but would depend still on how Toronto rounds out the defense. I would love Necas just can't see the fit for Toronto especially with Carolina preferring the Marner money to go to Guentzel and they have experience with Guentzel. Better to work with Guentzel than Marner.

Oh my god you're serious. Kotkaniemi is 10000% an NHL player. Having watched him for 6 years now, he's probably best suited to being a 3C with heavy defensive minutes. He creates a lot, but he doesn't have the shot to finish it. When he played with semi-decent linemates, he put up ELITE defensive numbers (Despite neither Svechnikov nor Necas being good defensively) and 40 points. He also lead the league in "tertiary assists" which is the pass before the points are awarded. He's 1000% NHL caliber, and saying otherwise is a joke. You can argue right now he's not got much value, and that's fair. But this is WAY too far

Carolina actually has the cap for both if Marner's extension was to be reasonable for his value. Something in the 9.5 neighborhood, because he isn't worth 11, and Carolina can and probably would do it.

Lol a simple excersize where AI entertain an idea becomes an all out way on one young player. Gotta love it lol! KK has struggled recently but Carolina has no need to offload. Due to his age, they can simply demote him to AHL and only pay 1/3 his contract. Better than any buyout or trade where they lose one of their top defensemen.

Considering other signings and how the past 4 years Marner has been a 30 goals scorer with a ppg percentage that would give him 100+ points every year if played 82 games. He can easily be paid and be considered worth it to pay 11 million. Especially with the cap rising now. The problem with the deal came after the Tavares deal and both Marners camp and Matthews camp basically said you said Tavares to this amount and our players and younger and better they deserve the same pay. Which not places Dubas' at stalemate.
Now the cap is rising, and the leafs can now afford a small raise to about 11 to 11.5 as mentioned. But does Marners camp ask for closer to Matthews? Then it becomes greed and not worth it. But the ufas next year are not like this years. So can you replace him? Plus this year, the cap is only going up so much and they need a better balance making a trade a good idea but is it really worth it.
My personal opinion is don't trade Marner but keep teams in the loop and essentially tell Marner, you want to stay and get paid, this is the max amount. If you care about Toronto, this is it and you must prove it this year with your best year! I say between 11 and 12 million is the range given and Marner is basically a prove it or we push forward any way we can with a deadline move.

It wasn't. Look at the year before, where he had a similar PPG pace (Wilson hit him with a knee-on-knee which made him miss a quarter of the year) and his defensive metrics didn't balk. Even back in Montreal, his defensive metrics have been very strong. This is the outlier year.

My point is he could have had MUCH more production, but he was always the guy before the point was given out. This was his first bad year of his career in terms of his defensive game, and his first regresion in PPG pace since he was a Canadien. Guys a fine 3C
