Marner and Parayko decline, Marner will go to a cup contender. And Parayko only waives to go home to Alberta.

CHI declines. They wouldn't even take Kampf for two 5th's, let alone send Dicky back with retention.

Hawks keep the superior Dickinson, and you want the Hawks to retain?
Marner doesn't waive to Blues, and I doubt Parayko does to.
I really don't like Blues trade ......I'd rather have Liljegren and Marner for a year, and be 11m cap free in summer of 2025, instead of having six years of 6.5m Parayko.
But without the NMC... still be .might be a fair trade.

Yeah, your probably right. I figured chi and tor have connected on a few trades but that was under dubas. Chicago just recently made a ridiculous trade to trade down a few spots; basically just wanted to switch things up and upgrade in Kampf but another scenario may be more likely. Definitely More likely without the retention.

Yeah, I dont think lilj comes back. I'd like to see a change in the d core. I think Marner could stay just with the new coach; see if he can get Marner to play harder and less peripherally in the playoffs. Where do you think he would waive for?

Could you see him going to a place like utah? What cup contender would make a good trade partner? - where do you think he would waive for but also make sense to trade with?

No worries. And it wasn't a ridiculous trade. CHI traded UP a few spots in both the 1st and 2nd rounds, for the price of a late 2nd. The value was actually almost dead even. CHI only slightly overpaid, but the team who is trading up generally has to overpay at least a little bit. Here is a link to a very nifty calculator for both pick value and cap relief. https://puckpedia.com/CapRelief An NJD fan ran a ton of trades through it dating back over 10 years and proved almost every trade to be accurate or very close.

First, I think much of the criticism of play-off Marner is unwarranted. IMO, Marner stays a Leafs and signs with another team in 2025....just like so many other UFAs.

Doubt if Marner waives....because he would only go to a good team where he can keep up his superior stats in his contract year. Not too many teams have a good/very players offensive players like the Leafs or a top 3 PP. More importantly good teams don't have 11m cap for him.
It really makes little sense for any team to trade for Marner till teams know what the cap will be in 25/26. Here's my take, Marner is overpaid. He's about the 9th best winger in the league. The 9th paid winger gets paid 9.5m. Marner probably wants more than his current 11m, so he will wait to see what the cap is and who offers him the best deal.
By the way, I thought the Leafs continued their tradition of paying a hometown premium to their top players by paying Nylander 11.5m X 8.

That's why I wonder if a team like Utah makes sense. They have the cap space, new owners, and could be looking for a big name or piece to try and get them to the next level. But yeah it's a hard sell for marner but maybe the tax savings, ect or an enticing sign and trade type move persuades him. I agree where you label him and I also think a new coach maybe gets more out of him.
