You could juat as easily argue that the Pens are helping the Leafs by giving them a full line and a 1st for a guy they won't re-sign.
Plus, Rakell is under contract for 4 more seasons at $5 mil per...not unreasonable.

I see Karlsson going the other way and a prospect for Marner as then the Leafs have a #2 RHD that can score and run the power play and then move on from Reilly as I feel you can’t win a cup with him

The Rackell contract is brutal. He's a cap dump pure and simple. Leafs have no interest in this deal.

This would be a total favour by the Leafs. They are getting nothing in return here lol
Three 30+ year old bottom 6 players on bad contracts for a superstar?
Marner alone outproduces all 3 of these guys lol
Leafs need D and goaltending. Or the free cap space and assets to attain those things.
This gives them nothing but low level FWDs and they are actually taking on MORE cap space.
Would never ever happen.

At bare minimum, they're getting cap space and a 1st.
I love how people are so quick to forget that cap space - in a cap league - is a highly valued commodity in and of itself for signing other FAs and/or extending your own talent that you're actually keeping.

How are they getting cap space again? They are taking on more then they are losing. They LOSING cap space. Not gaining it. And not getting anything but FWDS with that space. Nothing they need.
