Ottawa and NJD simply make 0 sense as trading partners because we are both looking for the same bottom 6 forwards, goalies, and 1 more defensive dman.
Unless Ottawa wants to overpay us to buy Marino before his NTC kicks in, I don’t see any trade that makes sense.
Or unless Ottawa wants to move on from Joseph at a reasonable price
If Brady is put to market, I’m sure Fitzy will bid on him. Ottawa would probably have to be looking at pick- and future-heavy deal (or Brady is asking to be moved). And if new GM wants his footprint on team, that is probably easier bet than trying to mix and match veterans.
One of - 2024 NJD 1st (#10), 2025 1st (NJD), 2026 1st (NJD)
One of - 2025 2nd (NJD), 2026 2nd (NJD)
One of - Holtz, Casey, Gritsyuk, 2026 1st (NJD)
One of - Filmon, Clarke, Foote, Salminen, Hatakka, Wendt, Stillman, Hameenaho, Vilen, Leddy, Halonen, Orlov, Misyul, Edwards, Legare, Barabosha, Squires, Hauser, Hurtig, Shlaine
One of - Daws, Brennan, Malek, Poulter
Something like that would be more than Timo package. I would think 10th overall, 2025 2nd, a top prospect like Casey or Holtz, a good prospect like Hameenaho, and maybe another piece or two would be a significant offer. If they want Matthew Tkachuk trade and a list of veterans back, I don’t think Fitzy guts the roster for one guy.
