Marner would likely waive to San Jose. Coastal city, much less pressure given the state of the team, easy first line minutes with the Celery kid, close to his surrogate dad Marleau.

That's a waste of long term cap on Stephenson and Pesce. Mattinen may not even be good enough to be a Marlie, never mind a Leaf.
Nothing in for San Jose. They can just sign UFAs and keep those three valuable pieces.

For the love of everything, please stop sending Marner to the worst team in the league who is rebuilding. IT MAKES ZERO SENSE

Folks read but disagree. San Jose keeps those young assets, and spend $$$$ on a UFAs =, not trading for Marner extension. You made a post with the Leafs signing UFAs and didn't give anything for them. Neither should the Sharks.

I don’t know if Marner agreed to move here he is a bigger asset than anything given up here. I would agree with this giving Celebrini a stud winger
Musty Celebrini Marner
Eklund Smith Nygard (drafted 14th)

That’s an interesting top 6

Except Marner is a better player than any UFA. I would be open to trading him for a viable 2C/1RD but I'd get yelled at for it.

I can ready just fine, doesn’t mean the reasoning is sound. You’re missing the most important part of the conversation, San Jose is a rebuilder. No rebuilder is spending all that on a single player. We don’t want marner, largely the fan base is against paying all these assets for a soft player

He is? He's overpaid at 11m and wants more. Look at the UFA list this year and next, you have to kidding that he better than some of UFAs that will be coming on the market.

That seems to a real homer attitude. I can name seven better players than Marner that will be UFAs in the next two years. And probably signed to much better value.
Yes confuse playing value and trading value. Being an. 11m player with one year left, makes his trading value not so much, never mind including his NMC.
No team is giving up a good cheaper player with years of control for him.

The only comparable UFAs are Stamkos and Reinhart. The former is 30 and will likely sign a discount in Tampa, the latter had an inflated shooting percentage and will be overpaid for his value. Ditto for Guentzel as well. Looking at next years UFA list is redundant, how of those mystery seven better players do you think will actually make it to UFA?

Unfortunately I think Marners trade value is a little higher than peanuts and gave my comparable in the trade box. Feel like the objective should be to maximize your assets value against the market rather than minimize it but I'm not a GM so what do I know.

I proposed this same Marner to SJ trade earlier. If the Sharks wanted to trade for Marner, I think it's a fair price. I understand that it is probably too early in the Shark's rebuild to go after someone like Marner. However the chance to obtain a proven star player under 30 via an affordable trade doesn't come along very often. This is a unique opportunity given Marner's relationship with Marleau, TML's cap situation, and that so many Toronto fans want Marner gone (which is an overreaction IMO). This trade would jumpstart the Sharks rebuild and double the number of franchise players on the roster. It would give Celebrini a worthy linemate. There isn't a comparable UFA available who would sign with San Jose. Reinhart wouldn't. Neither the #14 pick or Zettlerlund is likely to become a franchise player. If Marner would consider it, then the Sharks should.
