Hawks have a roster full of veteran's in Foligno, Dickinson, AA, Donato, Hall, Murphy, Jones. They have leaders in the locker room and on the ice. They have a roster full of 3rd/4th line players. They don't NEED more bottom 6 players. I don't care if Sheary played on a Cup team 7+ years ago. He is just a guy. You want to dump cap, then you have to pay up.

Anyways, you don't know how the game works? I guess it's hard to know how a rebuild works when you've been contending and trying to contend for years... You take on Sheary at 2 mil as a decent player for your lineup and then you can trade him retaining half at the deadline lol.

Hawks should be looking to take larger cap dumps for better draft pick returns. For a team with 13 picks in the first 2 rounds in the next 3 years, a 6th round pick for at best a 3rd liner doesn't move the needle. Puckpedia's cap relief tool shows a 2nd round pick as compensation for 2 years 2M. I think that is a bit steep, so up the 6th to your 2025 3rd and there is probably a deal to be had.
