The Jets might do that.

Is Spurgeon a cap dump now?

I could see the Oilers MAYBE considering that but I doubt they'd trade McLeod and can't see them wanting to take Vanecek, maybe if it was Blackwood they'd do it Idk 🤔

If the Oilers lose tomorrow ya gotta think they'll do something serious to address their goaltending, a Skinner/Vanecek tandem isn't seriously addressing their issues between the pipes though they clearly have some issues beyond just goaltending but what team doesn't.

Spurgeon isn't a cap Dump. He's also not Waiving to go to San Jose. Bill Guerin will not trade his 1st Captain especially for nothing in return

a 2nd rounder to dump 7 Mill in cap space is actually incredible value. But i dont think PHI actually needs to dump them since they can waive both and they arent contending...

the other wrinkle is that all 3 of their 2025 2nds will likely be very high, which I'd advocate is a bad way to spend that asset.

either way, its a well thought out premise. esspecially if PHI wanted to utilize that 7 Mill in space... nice work!

edit: if anyones curious 7 mill in cap space would translate to a late 1st rounder in compensation https://puckpedia.com/CapRelief
