They traded a 3rd to get Duhaime a rental who had 12 pts this season, Colton’s value is astronomically higher, just look at some the BUF ACGM’s they are trading a 2nd and Krebs for him. They got a 1st and 2nd for Newhook, a 2nd or 3rd only makes sense if you’re a GM looking to get fired.

Regardless of the exact number, Mitts is looking to get paid & (most likely) wont be signing cheap

Literally I laid out his value, he was traded for a high second round pick as a guy that played winger. Since then he played an entire season at center a more valuable position, he had a career high in points but your like nah a 3rd gets him when literally guys scoring 12 points netted a 3rd. The cap situation doesn’t suck it’s murky. With Landy on the books they have $9M in cap space, Nichushkin they can use his cap space but have to allow for his prorated hit when/if he returns. And you literally said “a 3rd should do it “ in trading Colton.

It’s not horrible look at Begas they are over the cap and have to move people to start. Yeah Mittlestadt will take most of it, but this is what happens when you win a cup. COL is getting close to the TBL roster model where the 4th line and 3rd pairing and part of the 3rd line are $1M guys that is what happens.

They have $10M in cap space, by no means the best but absolutely far from screwed. If no Landy that goes to $17M, if also no Nichushkinit goes to $23M, but neither is those is guaranteed hence the murky statement. But yeah that’s pretending that’s pretending they don’t have cap challenges.🤷🏻‍♂️
