If you are being genuine, I'm sorry if this all comes off as rude but here is the summary.
Why not from LA:
- Byfield is LA's future
- PLD is someone who LAs brass publically indicated they are working to get turned around and will not plan to buy out the contract
- PLD has a NMC that kicks in July 1st
- On a cost per point ratio, the Kings should be good with Kempe, Fiala, Moore, and Byfield as top-6 wingers
- LA still would not have a 3C and would be top heavy in a division with better top heavy teams (Vegas / Edmonton)
From Toronto, why No:
- Marner has a NMC
- Marners contract hasn't been discussed, until that happens you can't ask him to waive his NMC
- If Marner is moved he would want centers similar to Matthews to bolster his numbers for his next contract
- If no team is available with skilled centers like Matthews, an extension would need to be put in place and Marner is not likely to take a discount to a new team
- Toronto hasn't even hired a coach who will need to provide input on if moving Marner helps or harms the team
- If Toronto is willing to push Marner into removing his NMC, it sends a message to all league players that NMCs mean nothing in Toronto and get paid more because they won't honor anything you sign.
