That's good but Jonas Siengentaler on a first pair with Dougie Hamilton and Warren Foegele on a second line its basically too much.

I could honestly see the pens trade if things aren't going well by mid season.

Still not trading Gus just to move up from 13 to 10 in this draft, but OP's roots are that he doesn't actually learn from feedback or care about finding a deal that works for both teams, so long as it works for his team.

The order of the pairs isn't particularly relevant. All 6 dman will get around 20 minutes a night, and will be used in different roles.

Foegele is up there because his speed will pair excellently with Jack

Other than the first few weeks when he returned from Seattle, he was normally a fixture in Lindy’s lineups. He is close with Hughes, Marino and Mercer …and those guys were Lindy favorites.

To be fair, it’s a trade that a Russo article initially spurred and numerous MIN fans have expressed their support.

"Getting a first-rounder for Gustavsson seems unlikely, but perhaps the Wild could get a second. They’d probably prefer to get a rostered player back, anyway — ideally a middle-six winger. They could also use Gustavsson as a chip to move up in the first round, though many of the teams ahead of them aren’t necessarily in the market for goalies. The Flyers could be a fit, but they’re only one spot ahead.

This isn’t a fire sale on Gustavsson, though. The Wild will listen on him, but they’re not going to just give him away. And if they don’t trade him, they could start Wallstedt in the minors and/or have three goalies on the roster at times next season."

Nowhere in there does he preclude the idea of NJ adding something in return. If they value Gustavsson at a 2nd rounder, they'd be trading a 2nd to move up 3 spots in this draft. That means potentially another good prospect like Heidt, Khustnudinov, Peart, etc, and the difference in who's available at 13 and who's available at 10 this year likely isn't worth sacrificing that. I don't care what other MIN fans say, it's not a good use of value. If NJ wants to add a lesser F/D prospect to their end we can talk.

10/Daws for 13/Gustavsson

That’s probably the type of trade it would entail.

It’s all dependent on how the draft goes and there would have to be someone there at #10 that Devils aren’t taking, but isn’t likely to fall to #13. So it’s already a narrow set of sub-conditions.

He is a goalie that is waiver exempt for another year and would slide into back-up role in 2025-26.

Backup goaltenders are easy to find. A guy you one day hope can be a backup has 0 value.

Then why do you guys keep asking for him?

Gus is and has been a better goaltending prospect than Daws every step of the way, he's 2.5 years older and had one season as one of the top goaltenders in the league in 22-23. He has the historical numbers and the pedigree to back up the idea that he is capable of being a good starting goaltender in the NHL. One down year playing behind a depleted defense on a non-playoff team doesn't change that. You are trading for a legitimate starting goaltender. Daws has none of that. The two aren't even close in value.

The difference between 10 and 13 = #45 pick

Daws + #45 pick equivalent = Gustavsson

According to a model that doesn't consider any context whatsoever, sure.

In reality the difference between 13 and 10 in this draft is not a pick in the top half of the second round.

Still doesn't explain why you guys want Gus so bad if he's nothing but a backup goaltender.

If you want to do a fun thought exercise, go look through the results of the last 10 or 15 drafts, and look at some of the guys drafted 10-12, and then look at the guys available still at picks 13 and 45, and tell me which drafts you wouldn't take 13 and 45 in.

If you draft well, 13 and 45 is rarely worse than 10.

No no no. The assumption only works if you give team A access to just 3 possible players, but the other side access to all 200+ players drafted after pick 13 and all 165+ players drafted after pick 45
