athletic player cards value contracts

Description
KJ probably gets more. I would say he gets a 1.5x1 prove it deal. Nylander gets a 1x1 prove it wasn't a fluke. Chinny and Marchy probably get a bit more and longerish contracts 4-6 years.
Cap isn't going to be a problem. Slot for young and dumb vs vet leaders is going to be interesting.

The Athletic's player card system was so ****ed up that they had Jeff Petry as a more valuable defenseman than Mo Seider right up until the last month of the season lol.

Wouldn't take it seriously at all.

Nylander is arb eligible and also hasn't made anything in his career so far, if he's getting a 1-year prove-it deal, it should be for something significant like 3Mx1. They'll probably just sign him to something like 1.5M-2.5mx1 or 2.

I could see a 1x1 on a 1way contract. Kind of what Chinny did last season. Guarantees the player a mill but also doesn't lock a team into something stupid.

I'm viewing it as more of a starting point for numbers. I have scene numbers be shockingly low for some of these guys and wanted to put this out there to try and help future AGM's.

Personally i think Marchy and Chinny get 5x4's ish.
Silly gets a 3x3
KJ gets a 3x2/3
None of them have shown long term BIG money contracts but bridging them along and seeing what is what and who is who in 2-5 years isn't a bad idea. Could be more expensive down the road but for where the team is right now it's probably the best option.

In what world has Chinakov earned that deal?

And yeah, Dom's "model" is childish. Just like its maker. Don't put any stock into it.

The CBJ beat reporter is probably one of the best in the game. Porty is one of the few in Columbus that will ask tough questions to management. See post babcock presser last year.

he also barely responds to fan's good questions+opinions and when he does his opinion is always correct to him and only responds to easily searchable ones for fans that don't know much

It's about the middle of his P/PG salary range. Maybe upper middle but with the cap set to go up this year next and the year after...

He host a weekely show in their app and spends normally over an hour hearing opinions and responding. Just my opinion but ill take Porty over about everyone of the other Cbus beat writers.

idc about writers or anything I just look to him and Scheig for direct team news since they have access. The fan led writer pages like that cannon one are always either horrible takes or very obvious ones

Chinakov is much younger than Nylander and does not have arb rights, so no leverage really. At 26, Nylander's estimated career earnings are ~3.5M, that's because he hasn't been able to stay in the big leagues but yeah, he's going to try getting as much as money as he can. Might not be worth it for CBJ as they have options but if they want to make it work they do have the cap. 3Mx1 isn't going to kill them. If he's qualified, then I think they go to arbitration and maybe the team comes in at 1-1.25M and he'll come in at 4M or something and maybe he gets awarded 2.5-3M. There is the chance that he would go in at 5M, and then the CBJ risk him getting awarded 3M+, so maybe they can just get him to sign 2.5-3Mx1 from the start.

Edit: I just noticed you are paying Chinakov 4.6M, the guy still has no arb rights would be foolish to pay him so much based on a small sample, and Nylander would be offended quite frankly. They can offer him 1.25Mx1 and there's not much he can do about it except not sign.

Pay Nylander 3M, Chinakov 1.25m, save 1.35M.

The biggest thing Chinny has going for him in negations is he can always pack up his stuff and go home. I could see Nylander getting closer to the 2-3 range for the year but i would like to get Chinny locked up longer so hes probably going to be in the 3-5 (yes i know that big) range. But all of this could be for **** if the New GM thinks either or both are ****.

Huh? He's got like 56 points in 145 games. Hasn't even played a full season yet.
