Seattle won't trade Wright for Marner. That's like if Toronto traded Marner for the last year of Panarin's deal in 2018

That's not how that works. Seattle would be the team signing him to an extension after a trade is made. Toronto has no control over that and thus can't sell him as anything more than a rental

The Jets signed Dubois to an extension before trading him to LA. That's likely how they got Vilardi to be part of the deal. I know the pick in there is 2024 so itd be pre july 1 but I suspect since his NMC is already in effect theyll just wait till they can do the paper work on the extension before dealing him.

Also, the extension bit is like the trivial part of why Seattle wont do this lol

The Jets were the only team in the league who could sign Dubois to an 8 year contract. That is not the case with Marner, Marner can sign an 8 year extension anywhere as long as he is on that team before next seasons trade deadline.
