The only trade you didn’t overpay in was giving Jokiharju to Carolina. You’ve thrown away Greenway, And tossed next year‘s first round pick for a third line Center. Colton is a good target, but if you’re giving up Krebs a second rounder is enough. Acciari can be had for a fourth at most.

I'd say the Avs would have to accept that.

Yes it is a steep price. But it might be the cost to get pry a legit 3C with three years left on a reasonably priced contract on a perennial Cup contender that's butting their head against the cap ceiling.

I like Greenway, but can live with or without him. $3M is a bit high for what he brings.

Honest question, I keep hearing a first rounder is in play, who are the Sabres trading that first for?

It should. I'm a bit high on the pick, but for what Acciari brings, and the need for Buffalo to get things rolling, it needs to get done.

If you’re trading this year’s first round pick and it happens to be for a third line Center, it will be a young 3rd line Center with a lot of team control that brings a physical style and still produces. Someone like Jack McBain, but it wouldn’t be one for one if the 11 pick was demanded. Utah would have to add a little bit to even things out.

That's the thing, I traded away a 2025 1st to Colorado which, hopefully, will be in the upper-teens or higher.

Just trying to figure out who the Sabres would trade for with the 11th overall pick

The thing is a first round pick of any kind for Ross Colton is by itself an overpayment. You added even more to it.

Cool. I don't think Peyton Krebs and a second would get it done. And unless you're overpaying one of the UFA's, who are you going to trade for that would be available?
