3.5M match on a 22 year old top 10 pick? They're not taking the compensation for that on a bet perfetti doesn't pan out. Kotkaniemi got over 6M on an offer sheet after very similar production as perfetti thus far. Jets match easy.

I think you're completely wrong about this, this is basically the trade OTT made, with the 2nd being equal to Laughton and the other 2nd basically equaling the 5th and Zamula. You OTT fans are wildly overvaluing a guy you got for a certain price, thinking now after a so so stint, is worth WAYYYY more. It's delusional.

I agree that 3.5 is not enough to get it done, but I wonder what it might take. I don’t think the Flyers would go to the next tier that would cost them their 1st this year (just over $4.2M, I think). I don’t recall the specifics of the Kotkaniemi situation, but if he was offered over 6M, why is he on a 4.8M contract?

At the very least an offer like this gets the conversation started. If the 5th rounder becomes a 3rd, I think Ottawa takes it and runs. Chychrun has some great tools, but needs to learn how to play on the defensive side of the ice…he’s not a clear cut 1st pairing guy now. The best thing for his career would be to get some time under Torts and Shaw.

It would take a minimum of $7.5M to get Winnipeg to even consider not matching on Perfetti. I don't see Danny/Keith going the offersheet route - especially after dozens of teams did us a solid with the Gauthier debacle. If you want Perfetti, it will cost us either Frost + a 1st, or Foerster + a 2nd.



KK is on $4.8M because the RFA deal was only for 1 year and CAR re-signed him afterwards.

Well, now you’re just being ridiculous. Nobody is paying Perfetti 7.5M. And Forester has Mark Stone-like potential. I wouldn’t trade him straight up for Perfetti, much less throw in a 2nd on top.
