SJS blockbuster to setup big UFA offseason

Description
Detroit fans didn’t like the “first for Markstrom” idea.

I think a similar deal can be had with SJS, you just don’t get as good a goalie back.

I bridged Seider and Raymond in this one. Yzerman is the king of the bridge, playing it perfectly with Stamkos and Kucherov.

Why do the sharks also give up a third? Aren’t all the players returning to us cap neutral or cap dumps?

The first is nice but it’s 16oa in a top heavy draft and it’s j for 3 cap dumps tbh

I consider it without the third

Sharks give up the cheaper and better goalie this year for 3 cap dumps? To move up two rounds? Woof

Tks for writing in SJ fans. Yeah I think the 3rd going back is a little unnecessary in a vacuum. I was mostly focused on the Detroit lineup. But SJ won’t need that 3rd if they have three picks in the top 16!

"Detroit fans didn't like the first for Markstrom, so I made it first for a worse goalie."

And then you "Bridged" Seider and Raymond straight into UFA lol.

Ha! Well played.

Worse goalie. Younger. Much smaller cap hit. Less term.

Different deal.

Nice, he's younger so he can be worse for cheaper and longer.

Or we could just hang onto Husso for the last year to suck just as bad and keep our pick.

I wouldn’t “lol” that. Check out Yz’ history. The cheap bridge to UFA has worked out extremely well for him. He’s the only courageous GM so far as I can tell. It worked.

Four years isn't a bridge. There's also little point in doing it in this scenario when the cap is set to see max increases for several years.

There is a big point - the point is specifically to build a three / four year window of success. Right in Larkin and Debrincat’s prime years and right as Raymond and Seider ascend.

Even with cap increases you look for an edge with every dollar. All this depends on the asks by the players of course. I foresee Yz going to a very useful tool that’s only in his toolkit. The bridge to UFA deal.

Its a long bridge wink

Cap increases put Raymond over $10M and Seider possibly in the $12M+ zone right after Edvinsson needs his second contract.

That's gonna be a big "No thanks".
