Bringing them back year after year? Well they had NMC contracts right or wrong. Leafs have made the sweet 16 every year which is about average.
But what is nonsense, is trying to get top value for expensive players who have NMCs. There is no logical trade destinations for players like them. Teams on their trade lists have no cap for them. Poor teams aren't acquiring rentals. Extensions? Just a silly way to justify poorly thought out trades.
My wish is that Marner and Tavares are not resigned by the Leafs......just like so many other UFAs in the league. They leave their current teams, and get signed by other teams,

Thomas Chabot would be the perfect Leafs defenceman.
All offence, brain cramps, played too much early in his career after being pumped by local media, a shadow of his former self. Overpaid by a few million.
It's like Brian Leetch all over again without the Cups and insane success early on.

It's a thing. Too many players like Marner disappear come to the playoffs for every Brayden Point. No contender wants Marner maybe a bottom feeder though like Utah, I agree with the above poster, there is no market because of the NMCs

I don't want to watch them on this team next year. Life is short. The prime years of Matthews may be few, why waste another year? Leafs need to free up the 22 million and build a solid defense next year. They can be traded for free. I just want them gone asap.
