If Colorado can talk Girard into moving his NTC, I think it could happen.

Why would Ottawa decline the Saros trade? Just curious.

Who would you put in Pinelli's place if you don't think this would happen?

I disagree on OTT declining STL deal.... OTT offloads a minor leaguer and couple of picks for some help in the 3rd and 4th lines.

I also disagree that CHI declines, as they need help anywhere they can get it and if it means them offloading a pick for a tendy and a pick in return....then get it done.

Chychrun is WAY better than Girard, that is a horrible trade for the Sens
I don't see Utah doing that deal, Durzi has been a great fit for them
Jarventie > Pinelli, mostly irrelevant though as it's B prospect for B prospect
That trade really doesn't help New Jersey contend, Bahl is an active part of their team right now
No idea how 2 30 year old healthy scratch players warrents a 2nd, that Blues trade is really bad for Ottawa, you can get players like that for free on the UFA market
No way Ottawa retains that much on Korpisalo for that long. At the same time Nashville is hanging up all calls that don't start with Pinto
Like the Blues trade but the opposite, nobody is paying a 2nd for Forsberg

Also I see that you tried to reply to another user above, they won't be notified unless you quote them with the Quote button right here --------------------------v

IMO I think OTT would do it to bolster the bottom lines to see if they can get a bit of stability.

Also welcome to Capfriendly. Be prepared to get roasted alive in future threads where your values are probably much further off base than this one

As I said in my previous post Walker and MacEachern are pretty run of the mill depth players, absolutely not worth spending a 2nd on. I wouldn't be playing either anywhere above the 4th line and maybe not even starting them. If you want them there is like a 99% chance both will be placed on waivers before the start of the season, so you could just get them for free.

I'd love to see Girard go. For Chychrun AND a first! No brainer lol.

Btw, Girard NMC is starting after the draft.

Avs decline. They aren't trading Girard who is under contract for longer for one year of 400k cap saving, even with a first attached, to then have to find a way to sign Chicken Run at the same time as re-signing a plethora of other players. They may have to trade Girard but it won't be a deal like that, probably purely for futures.

They don't resign chychrun they flip him to another team that needs defense for a cheaper option, off the top of my head I'm thinking toronto as Ottawa probably doesn't trade within Ontario and leafs have the cap space after moving marner...

They turn Girard into a 1st and possibly minten or or another high pick.

Leaves them 5 mill open to sign walker or drouin or trenin.. whom ever they like and allows landeskog a return.

Saying that Ottawa would never trade chycrun and a 1st for girard

. Way better how? Because he is taller? Girard has better shot share and xG stats. I mean yeah OTT isn’t kicking in a 1st in this trade scenario but I don’t agree the Chychrun is even better period.

Chychrun is constantly top of the league in individual scoring chances by defensemen. He is easily one of the best defensemen at getting the puck to net. The only 2 guys consistently better than him every year are Josi and Hamilton (Hamilton missed most of the season so obviously he wasn't there this year) He's also done this while playing on not 1 but 2 bottom of the league teams.

I can understand why it's a bad fit for the Avs due to term and lack of need for a #1 or #2 defenseman but Girard is certainly not better. Chychrun will rightfully get ~8M on his next deal, Girard would not get more than he is making right now

So in two years they have a hole in the D they stilll have to fill and whilst they've added futures they haven't added to current compete. Seems pretty backward to me.

Chicken run may get that (mainly based on size) but does he deserve that? Nope. And the team that does so will regret doing it. It also illustrates why the Avs don't make this trade.

Completely disagree with you on this one. Again he is one of the best defensemen in the league at getting the puck to the net. The only thing that might hold him back from 8M is his injury history.

Your losing Girard anyway, you just hope that in 2 years you've got a behrens, gulyev, and/or malinski playing serious time or you use an asset to get a serious defensmen either through draft, UFA or trade.

Example: newhook for 1st and 2nd.
2nd for colton

So the future could look like:
Makar toews walker malinski guluyev and behrens.

Or it could be completely different once they are more cap flexible, but if you get a blowout trade win you take it

Have to agree to disagree but there's no way I'm paying Chicken Run that kind of money and once again it illustrates exactly why the Avs don't do it. There is ZERO chance of re-signing him.

I'd disagree, I think it's terrible asset management to kick the can one year down the road and there's no guarantee you're losing Girard anyway.

I think if they avs get that deal they take it.. inalso think that if guluyev can turn into an nhler than Girard is to expensive to keep, when the team has other needs

Have to agree to disagree there. Poor foresight, and hell of a gamble for a guy who might make it and might make it to North America at some point, let alone the NHL.
