No one is going to give you that for Marner.
He's a rental, with an 11 mil cap hit.
A Teams that aren't real contenders aren't going to give up assets for that.
B Teams that are contenders don't have 11 mil in cap space to make it work.
You have a very small group of teams that can make it work, and how much cap is moved back and forth will be significant.
Look at two of the most recent trades.
EK to the penguins. They got a 1st and a whole lot of cap dumps and they had to retain 1.5 mil.
Why, no team had 11.5 mil in cap space. This is for a guy with 4 years of term on his deal and came off a hell of a year.
Guentzel to CAR, 2nd a mid 6 winger who was struggling, and a few B prospects. Jake was a rental and came at a much smaller cap hit.
Neither one of those trades suggest TOR is getting anywhere close to what their fan base thinks they are getting for Rental Marner.
So first thing is first in trading Marner..... How much is TOR retaining? Because if it's 0. Your return is going to be little. As no one has the cap.
If you are retaining 50%... you probably get a return like Guentzel above. A mid 6 guy to balance the cap, a 2nd and a B prospect or 2.
Again limited by the number of contending teams who can actually make a trade happen.
