I feel we’d need a 3 way trade to flip Buchnevich for a 1st and another very good prospect

Honestly just revisit after next season. I assume this next season is probably make or break for his sanity

I don’t think Snuggerud is good enough to headline a package but I don’t think Buch is young enough for that either

The problem is the Blues aren’t in position to trade away Hofer and Snugs. They honestly need to figure out what they want next year and decide if they want to do it with Binnington and Buch. That’s the 2 best assets they have right now that could move. Those 2 could net a very positive return and set the Blues up to be competitive in 25-26 and beyond

I don't think it is a trade that is optimal for either side. If Snuggerud and Hofer didn't pan out in Ottawa then this is a disasterous trade. I can also see why Buch isn't enticing as the head piece for your team.

I don't anticipate either of Snuggerud or Hofer flopping and so I think it could potentially be too much for the Blues to give up. Especially since I believe that Tkachuk will be available sometime in the next 5 years.

This sounds like the same delusion some Blues fans had about Matthew and “just waiting” for him to become a free agent. Good organizations go out and get good players if they are available. They don’t wait over the next 5 years…

Fair, but at what cost. I think Blues fans are equally delusional about acquiring the Tkachuk brothers, because of their name.

They would be great players to get, but there is a limit to what you should pay. For what it is worth, Brady is not Matthew and would have similar value to Kyrou. A swap there is the angle that would better for both teams.

Kyrou is a good player and has similar stats. The impact Brady would have on the team and the market dwarfs what Kyrou does though. In the above, you are not willing to give up the Blues backup goalie, a player who might be good but not certain, and a player who is more than likely leaving for someone who would be the face of the franchise...

1. Thats why I would do Kyrou for Brady if he wanted out.
2. I wouldn't do the trade above. Yes, there is uncertainty in Snug and Hofer, but what you most likely have is an equivalent player in Snuggerud and a starting goalie with the potential to have Elite stickhandling, as well as another year of Buch plus whatever trade value he is worth.

Snuggerud is no where near equivalent to Tkachuck...I'm sorry but this is where I lose it with the Blues fan basis biases...

It literally isn't a bias. Are you saying snuggerud doesn't have 70-80 point potential with reliable defensive game??

I get that he is still a prospect. I'm not arguing that they have equal value right now. That is why I acknowledged that this isn't best for Ottawa. I have no idea where you have been sleeping if you don't think Snuggerud is capable of 70-80 points in the NHL.

Points are not the only thing that matter - hence players like Marner disappear in the playoffs on an annual basis. And no I don't think Snuggerud is going to be a point per game player.

1. I know points aren't the only thing that matters. Snuggerud is a complete 200 ft players and is developing strong leadership skills.
2. I think what you are trying to argue is that the leadership skills of Brady are what make him the player that he is. I agree that he would be good for the lockeroom, lets not forget the amount of talent that Ottawa has. While I think Brady is a hard worker and would be a good player in the lockeroom, it isn't like his body of work shaping locker room is passing with flying colors.

I'm arguing that Brady is not a one dimensional player and if put on a good team that knows what they are doing, will have the same effect that Matthew is having with the Panthers. None of the pieces discussed here on the Blues end have that effect.
