...in other words, Devils pre-lottery position....

...and when factoring weighted average lottery odds, the probabilities of NJD actual draft position are as follows

#1 Overall............4.3%
#2 Overall............4.5%
#3 Overall............0.2%
#8 Overall............4.8%
#9 Overall..........29.5%
#10 Overall........46.4%
#11 Overall..........9.8%
#12 Overall..........0.4%

...or if you prefer odds in stead of probability

#8 Overall............1-in-21
#9 Overall............2-in-7

If we do get the number 1, just hypothetically, do we trade it for a haul? Also, who would be the best trading partner?

Rough estimate on where we stand on performance bonuses...

Luke Hughes: $850,000 (max: $850,000)
- Six "A" bonuses
- G, A, PTs, PPG, TOI, all-rookie team
- max is four...so he will max out his A bonus pool

Simon Nemec: $500,000 (max: $1,000,000)
- Two "A" bonuses
- TOI, blocks

Dawson Mercer: $400,000 (max: $400,000)
- Two "A" bonuses
- Goals , TOI

Alexander Holtz: $0 (max: $212,500)
- No "A" bonuses

Akira Schmid: $0 (max: $57,500)
- No "A" bonuses

Nico Daws: $0 (max: $57,500)
- No "A" bonuses

Everyone else: $0
- No "A" bonuses

Don't expect any "B" bonuses (Major trophies, top-10 in scoring).

So there we are...

Luke Hughes........$850,000
Simon Nemec......$500,000
Dawson Mercer...$400,000
Alexander Holtz..............$0
Akira Schmid...................$0
Nico Daws........................$0
Everyone else..................$0

Total..................$1,750,000

According to capfiendly, we finished year with $589,972 cap space this year, so that would leave $1,160,028 bonus carryover for 2024-25.

He has another year on his KHL deal. Earliest we likely see him is if SKA gets bounced earlier next year and he joins us down the stretch. There was some talk mid-season that Putin, a SKA super-fan, may make it hard for the team's youngsters to leave...and we just traded the rights to our other SKA player (Bardakov). So read into that want you want. Demidov is probably they guy they try to keep.

Frank Seravalli says NJD bonus overage will be $1,538,897

Means we have about $2.1m in performance bonuses. That is about $400k more than I had (by just computing normal schedule).

TM Penalty
EDM $3,450,000
DAL $2,595,407
WAS $2,252,500
LAK $1,850,000
NJD $1,538,897
MTL $1,022,500
OTT $850,000
NYR $512,500
MIN $425,000
PHI $245,000
BOS $50,000
FLA $500,000 (possible)
CAR $50,450 (possible)

(Obviously not final numbers)

"The word on New Jersey is they want to take a big swing. They want to see if there is a big swing they can take out there. Obviously, John Cooper and/or Mike Sullivan would be as big of a swing as you can take, and Craig Berube is obviously right there, as I previously mentioned."

According to Tampa Bay Times, Cooper extended a couple of years ago. He was signed in 2021 through 2024-25 then added a year at some point since.

Worth noting that Kevin Weekes has been on Sullivan to NJD thing…even suggested it could happen via trade. And the other day tweeted, “ There could be one current NHL Head Coach that might potentially hit or surpass Mike Babcock’s industry leading 7M per Year deal he signed with the Maple Leafs . It would take plenty of factors for it to align, but plots are thickening.”

Not saying it’s Cooper to NJ…or Sullivan to NJ (It may be Brind’Armour to Seattle). I have no idea if NJD related or not.

Weekes has broken a bunch of NJD front office stories in past (Brunette hiring, Hischier being named captain, etc). My guess…he breaks news on next NJD coach.

The latest "rumor" ive seen is bonkers...leafs fire keefe, sullivan "traded" to NJ, keefe takes over in pittsburgh, berube to toronto

Think id rather just hire Berube or Woodcroft straight up if theres that much f**kery going on with hiring a coach this summer
