I don’t like the idea of selling all those early round picks. Just gotta trust the process and just let the rebuild happen naturally.

I expect Calgary and Montreal won’t be playoff teams next year, but at the end of the day you’re asking teams to trade their proven young assets on a bet. That usually doesn’t happen.

Testing a theory yeah zegras and necas are great players and every habs fan would love to fleece a team and collect but every homer on this website over value players. And compare zegras necas to caufield or our top prospects when there not close to caufields value or valued that high realistically this is just a overpayment to see the opposing fans sick minds 😂

Necas is on a stacked carolina team who doesnt get top line minutes anymore and is gonna need a payment where carolina needs to reassess there team. If the right price or over price comes there way why say no?
Same can be said with zegras anaheim is 4c deep and zegras is the 3rd best right price or overpayment why over think it take it and run

At this point probably no with caufield having a down shooting % year which tanks his production as hes a sniper then ya raymonds better. But caufield is still becoming a complete player and is still a top sniper in the league even with a low s%.
And i would value them the same like of they werent working out for there teams a 1 for 1 would seem fair.

This isn’t even really a criticism of Caufield. Raymond’s development in the last year has been absurd.

Started the season 12 pounds heavier and a clear step ahead of where he was last season. He’s a rare case I can recall (From players I track regularly at least) where you can literally see his progression over the season.

Wouldn’t trade him 1 for 1 for Caufield ever. Larkin getting injured was Raymond’s coming out party.

Caufield and Zegras are actually kinda close. Zegras is worth about 9-10 OA and Caufield 7-8 OA. Necas is worth 17 OA and a Engstrom prospect (Fiala trade)

I wouldn’t really say stagnant. It’s his third season and he just turned 22 a couple weeks ago.

Just a sophomore slump. Lots of guys have it.

Raymond has always had a better offensive team mtl has been a bottom 5 since caufield stepped out except first 10 games but then still without mtl losing like 15 times in ot shootout they wouldnt of been the wildcard. Yes raymonds better but ru telling me a with the league average 10+ shooting percentage and caufield has 2 less goals then raymond with a 8.8s% with over 320 shots if next season he hits 300 shots again with a average shooting % or normal for him 11+ hes hitting 30-40 goals by plane math btw raymonds shooting % is 18.6 and has 2 more goals then caufield which isnt obtainable just thought id shoot that out there

I highly doubt it was “Many” and anybody calling a 20 year old a bust after a 50 point pace on a bad team is an idiot. It’d be like calling Beniers a bust right now. Should we take that opinion seriously? Probably not.

Like, I don’t take anything FinishYourChecksGM says seriously. He still says Raymond sucks lol.

I’m gonna be honest dude it’s hard to even understand and address what you’re saying because you typed a paragraph as one big run-on sentence.

Yes, Raymond is better than Caufield at this point. No it would not be different if they changed teams. Raymond has literally been his best in the last 6 weeks that Detroit has absolutely sucked for.

I’d take Necas over both. Doesn’t get nearly the opportunities either of those guys do.

Also I’d argue Zegras value is lower (than you’ve suggested) than Caufield’s right now. Not really any fault of his own, he’s just been hurt all year.

Which is also why even if Anaheim wanted to sell him, they won’t while his value is down.

Alight let me rephrase, raymond is the better player. Can every agree a 18.6 shooting % is not obtainable? Yes. League average shooting % is around 10. Caufield has shot at 8.8%. That being said if caufield shot at his normal 11+ or even league average 10 the math shows he should have 30-35 goals just by math if he didnt even have a down shooting year.

I also know mtl only has suzuki slaf caufield matheson who are good on this team and you can say newhook who has less then 35 pts.
Now detriot has kane larkin raymond seider raymond debrincat compher sprong gost who all have more then 41 pts which just shows there offense is better they also have 13 players who have more then our 6th place scorer. 😊

Raymond also has worse defensive numbers no playoff stats to show for and has basically 33 games of development on caufield. They have the same pt% through there careers. Also caufield has had injuries (shoulder surgery)

Yes I agree raymonds better but at the same time with this all being said raymond just has more games and better team.

I agree zegras isnt caufield it would cost more for ana then for mtl but right price or overpay and run.
And if anahiem wants to pull the injury card caufield had a shoulder surgery (hes a sniper) and still can play 2 ways.

Detroit’s shooting and percentages have been red flagged by advanced stat nerds all year.

It’s mainly because they don’t actually watch games and just plug numbers into a computer. Their actual shooting is low, and their percentages are high, because they insist on not shooting until they have the perfect opportunity.

It’s mind-numbingly frustrating to watch, let me tell ya. Specifically when the goalie is stopping everything and you’ve just gotta throw dirty shots through traffic and they won’t.

Or when the opponent has taken away the slot on the Power Play, but they insist on feeding it there.

Necas has had one good yr but played with aho svech kk terivainen which is better then what zegras and caufield had expescially with both teams being bottom 3-5 the last 3 seasons. Carolina has been a contender half of necas career.
And if he wants more minutes just out produce jarvis he cant then hes not a top line player he has had 5 years to prove it hasnt done it. Caufield solidified his spot. Zegras got injured having a down year looking like hes bouncing back but ana drafter 2 high draft talents with more potential.

Also just wanna say i look at advanced statistics that shows every aspect of a players game to determine almost anything you can think of % wise so imnt just making **** up ask about something and i can tell you by stats and my own opinion on the strenghts of teams and why certian players should thrive more or have more success.

If this was last year, NSH might have taken that deal, but Kidney has fallen off heavily from last year Harris doesn't add anything for NSH who has Fabbro, Livingstone, and Ufko all as RD. The picks are the only thing intriguing to NSH and I doubt they would want to wait that long on one of, if not their best offensive prospect
