Goodrow doesn't waive for Montreal.

And Chytil is likely done with a major concussion.

Pay? Goodrow is a cap dump himself at this point and Chytil’s career is unfortunately very much in question. Not saying this deal would get it done by any means but NYR is definitely not “paying for a cap dump” in this situation.

Goodrow was structured for a buyout. He’s half the cap hit as Anderson. Both overpaid and underachieving no doubt. 1 for 1 and NYR pass.

This trade would be a gamble for Montreal, that Chytil gets over the serious head injuries. If not Montreal absorbs 8 million in cap against Anderson's 5.5. The other assumptions are 3.6 in a finished Goodrow VS some people (including me) thinking Anderson still has something left. If the vets play like they can and Chytil stays healthy, Montreal might win, while Anderson being productive and Chytil remains hurt with a good 7th D and a 3rd to a contender; NY would win. Add the cap $$ and I can see the Rangers consider. Bet some $$ on a team with space to incur the concussion risk of a high skill play I can see why Montreal considers.

To be fair, Anderson is younger and a huge body. Would NYR find value in that when considering that Anderson has either scored 20+ goals per year/or on pace to, except this season. Again, the gamble is similar to Chytil....injury history.

Anderson has an inch and 12 lbs on Goodrow. We have bodies that are far bigger than Anderson on NYR. He might have fit the bill for NYR 3 years ago but today they don’t need size. 1 for 1 it’s a no. The cap space is a waste to make this trade. Let alone adding Chytil who has concussion concerns but let’s be realistic, he’s really good on ice when healthy. It’s in NYR best interest to keep Chytil whether he plays a game or 12 seasons. As for Goodrow they can buy him out if they really need to lose him. The buyout gains additional money on NYR cap. Makes no sense to trade for a worse cap situation or to pay anything to dump him

Anderson is a bigger cap dump than Goodrow but had better upside and profil to rebound due to his previous years. Goodrow have 3-4 millions contract but just never been good

Rangers probably say no because they have no reason to risk it but you may overreact a bit
