1st overall with veteran adds

Créé par: glarson17
Équipe: 2024-25 Sharks de San Jose
Date de création initiale: 8 avr. 2024
Publié: 10 avr. 2024
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Rational:

-Couture’s career is over due to injury unfortunately
-sharks win the 1st overall and sign Celebrini, have Will Smith stay 1 more year in college.
-add some veterans to the youth movement who are valuable and tough to play against.
-shore up the defense with some solid players
-take on some cap for assets through trade
-sharks have a ton of cap space so ufas could be signed to more money, or they can take on more contracts for assets.

1st round
-1st (SJS) Celebrini
-15th (PIT) one of Buium, Greentree, Iginla, Yakemchuck or Helenius.

Do we think Adam Jiricek will fall to 34? I would love that.

Is this a better team than this years team? Where would they finish in the standings?

I don't think there is much left for Smith to do in the NCAA. Already 70 points as a freshman. Prob best for him to get a go in the NHL honestly

I tend to agree with that, however I’ve heard multiple scouting reports say he still has stuff to work on in his overall game. If the sharks get Celebrini, I think it’s fine that smith goes back and is the guy at BC being 1C. I know college players can be tough to handle, see Cutter Gautier, so if there’s a similar situation just sign him.

There likely is stuff to work on, but, imo, he is at a good enough level that that stuff will be better learned at the NHL level.

Honestly it comes down to what both players want! If they want to go back to college for a year let them if both want To come over, remind them it’s not a guaranty they make the roster and could end up starting the season in the AHL! if they still want to sign, sign them. In the end it’s very important to treat them like adults let them have a say and be honest and open, lies deceit and forcing them one way or another could destroy the relationship with the club and I don’t want that!

I would as well! I think both still need to bulk up a bit and work on aspects of their game and I would also like a stronger team to put around them! But man a 3rd line of rookies Musty Celebrini & Smith in 25/26 will be nasty! Both for us on good nights and against us on bad nights lol

Lol there’s no way Smith and Celebrini wouldn’t make the Sharks NHL squad. Luke Kunin is currently our 2C.

Out of shape? lol come on it’s not 1970 where NHL players don’t do anything in the offseason. These are elite athletes and there’s millions of dollars at stake. I also doubt the guy whose dad is a sports medicine and performance professional with one of the most successful professional sports franchises is going to get out of shape.

Isles say no, no reason to pay a 2nd to dump 2.5 million. Remove Rutta and I say isles do it

Emberson and Thrun .. too much
Kunin going to get more
Less UFA signings better to shop the cap dump market for RD, C and a winger.

Don't know if they'd sign in SJ but I like the DeMelo and DeBrusk signings.

I'd go after bigger players (literally) than Carrier and Pageau. The 2nd for Pageau is nice, though.

Like the Vancouver trade. Had forgotten about Makiniemi as a potential trade piece.

Agreed. Zadorov would be good. Maybe Hakanpaa too, although he's rated as P3.

I would take him there, he seems to be falling down boards. Would be awesome if he was there at 34 for San Jose if he is falling
