Sure, give Jeff Gorton more 1st round picks. That’ll go well.

Realistically would be replaced with a combination of picks prospects players but this is easier to show value with imo.

Top 10 pick for Guhle-Like him defensively and should be able to handle PK minutes and minutes with Marino
1st for Monty-I like him as a goalie, under 30, been very good the last 2 years, not a massive contract
1st+2nd for Newhook-Like his speed, what they paid for him

Bridge Guhle and the cap should be easy to manage for at least the next 3 years.

Guhle: Romanov comp. Better player so the pick is 9th instead of 13th
Montembault: a 1st is more than fair
Newhook: what you paid for him.

I'd be happy to swap in roster players/prospects for picks, but let's come back to reality about the value of these assets.

Sorry did I not get enough dman who are 6 foot 5 and bad at hockey?

Surely MORE of brendan smith and kevin bahl is the solution.

I could maybe see Guhle getting a top 10 pick, but other than that Monty is not worth a 1st, and Newhook is ABSOLUUTELY not wortha 1st + 2nd. That may be what MTL would ask for for Monty but that would be a huge mistake for NJ. He's an average goalie having a somewhat solid season.

The value is fine on the Montreal trade, but there's no way Montreal would go for it. The climb out of the rebuild starts next season and Guhle is a cornerstone of our defence going forward

Understandable. The value was more so what I was thinking of. In a real scenario some of the picks would be replaced by roster players/prospects.

It's just tougher to show how I value other players in terms of prospects/players in a way others can clearly see.

Monty's been quite good for 2 years now. I don't think he's a super star but he's cost controlled, under 30. If the market on other goalies is better I'd go there, but I'd rather pay a 1st for Montembault than a 1st for Markstrom

Montreal paid a 1st+2nd for Newhook and I think he's had a good year. I'd give them their money back for him in value.

He's average in just about every stat. He's 24th among goalies played 20+ games in Goals saved above expected. Goalies are so up and down, spending a 1st for one that's signed at 3+ mil for 3 more years is awful. I mean just look at Blackwood's career so far for proof

Also valuing a player based on what they were acquired for makes no sense. Players values aren't stagnant. Also considering that was an overpayment to begin with

If there's a better value goalie out there I'm open to recommendations of all sorts.

Evolving hockey has him 7th over the last 2 years.

Again, if better value can be found elsewhere with Newhook, I'd be open to that as well for a 3C/LW, ideally with some speed and/or size

I'm not willing to move any of those 3 solely for picks, especially because in theory all 3 of them on NJ will only make the picks worse and Montreal shouldn't be delaying coming out of the rebuild

Hence why I said I’d be happy to swap in roster players/prospects.

But I am not an expert on Montreals needs, and general biases/different opinions impact how people view assets like prospects and players.

So using picks is a much easier way to show valuations.

Habs are trying to advance the rebuild but I think the value is pretty fair. The Guhle value is fair and you may have slightly overvalued monty and slightly undervalued Newhook (cancels out). Maybe another small sweetener is needed, but overall good job
