I'd be hesitant to do this deal as a Habs fan. He's too well liked and this could upset the dressing room. He's been one of their more consistent performers on the backend. Elite skater. He's easily one of the most liked players in the league with his charity work. Many scouts gush over him.

I'd never call anyone on the Habs top pair. They are a bunch of question marks with only Savard and Matheson that have proven they can be top4 and the other kids hoping to achieve the same but I dont see top pair on the Habs. Maybe Reinbacher if everything goes right?!

Pettersson is a very good defensive dman more than capable of playing in a top pair role. If he was on Montreal we already know Habs fans would be asking for multiple 1sts for him
