Description
Harris traded in the past year for a 2nd-3rd pick

Marchessault signed 2024 off season 3 yr deal

Signed back Savard at cheap deal to help the youth

With the emergence of Hutson probably would want to trade Matheson for a veteran defensive D in the same price range.

Gallagher buyout maybe, he definitely won't be able to follow the pace on the top 3 lines but I like what he brings to the team spirit and on a 4th line can't hurt much with his grit, just not 6M worth.

Obviously with all the picks we would probably go get a top 6 winger and top 4 RD instead of Savard however when you propose 1st round picks with no prospect on this website you get flamed so only time will tell what we can get !

To get such players both 1st rounders from 2025 would be available with prospect from 2024 draft or maybe even Jacob Fowler.

What forward could Montreal get in the next year or two for pick assets as the main package ? (no we're not trading Slaf/Caufield/Suzuki) Let's hear different propositions other then Zegras,Necas,Kent Johnson,Holtz.

Also Crosby as FA on this team would make me hard.

just saw something similar on the site and It made a lot of sense.

2024 off season Philly traded Cam Atkinson with 2nd pick for Justin Barron Josh Anderson and 3rd round pick,

Probably recoup 3rd pick at the 2025TDL for Atkinson retained

Just bc the Sabres are loaded w prospects,
that doesn’t mean we are trying to trade away one of our good players for picks
We just aren’t looking for picks, as our prospect pool is already loaded & we are trying to win now anyways

      BUT
If you’re gonna throw 1sts at us,
it is possible we could move on from Skinner
Not that he’s been bad at all for us, but we might prefer to use his Cap on Tuch & Peterka’s next contracts

I don't get how that Anderson dump is making "a lot of sense" for Flyers. He'd be like the winger 8-10 in Flyers roster while having 5,5M cap hit for 3 more years. Barron ain't enough to cover it

Edit. The proposal you saw was made by a Habs fan.

Why do Habs fans on this site want to waste cap space and make signings that won't make us better

To be fair we're taking Atkinson so it's a cap hit of 5.5 for 2 extra years and you get a RD with potential of being top 4.

Also Anderson under Marty St Louis isn't working right now and hes already said he liked to work with Torts. On this same website a year ago people were willing to acquire Josh for a late first. I don't think he's a bad player, I think a change a scenery would bring him back to a physical 40 pt winger and would fit well on the Philly culture

Okay so first year is going Atkinson <-> Anderson and our 2nd for Barron. Seems about right. Then Flyers are taking cap dump of 5,5M for 2 years. That's worth about 19th ovr. So this is just missing that WPG first and changing that 3rd for Habs 3rd instead.

Anderson with that contract is considered as a cap dump for Flyers (and anyone else), may he be more suitable for Flyers than Habs or not. Right now he would still be 4th liner at most, and for that you can have players for 1M if needed. RW is already the least wanted position for Flyers. And yes I'm aware he's able to skate on LW also but RW is the natural position.

But after all this rant I also agree that he ain't that bad player, just not worth that contract, not even close. Retain 50% and it's already a different story.

I think retraining 50% would indeed make way more sense and you could flip him last year with a extra retention to gain a pick in 2026-2027.

I see Anderson as a good 3rd liner in the good system however that system is not Montreal. Not throwing in the towel just yet tho, might have a bounce back season next year and flip him with retention for a mid pick instead of paying a 1st to dump him
